DESCRIPTION:The film follows a curious and adventurous Dolichorhynchops – familiarly known as a ‘dolly’ – as she travels through the most dangerous oceans in history. Along the way\, she encounters long-necked plesiosaurs\, giant turtles\, enormous fish\, fierce sharks\, and the most dangerous sea monster of all\, the mosasaur.\n\nThe state-of-the-art Planetarium & Dome Theater at the U-M Museum of Natural History transports visitors beyond distant stars and back in time from the comfort of reclining seats. Tickets $8. Tickets are available on the day of the show at the Museum Store.\n\nThe planetarium is operating at half capacity to maximize distancing between viewers.

DESCRIPTION:Stephen Upshaw presents a Master Class on viola. Free and open to the public.\nRepertoire includes:  Vieuxtemps\, Bartók\, Hindemith\nAmerican violist Stephen Upshaw regularly appears in festivals around the world. Much in demand as a chamber musician\, he is a member of the award-winning Solem Quartet– recognized as one of the most innovative and adventurous quartets of its generation. \nA noted interpreter of contemporary music\, Stephen is also a member of London’s Riot Ensemble\, winners of the Ernst von Siemens Foundation Ensemble Prize\, whose disc ‘Speak Be Silent’ was selected as one of New Yorker Magazine’s ‘Best Recordings of 2019’. He has worked closely with many of today’s leading composers\, including Max Richter\, John Adams\, Thomas Adès\, George Benjamin and Helmut Lachenmann. Expanding the repertoire of the viola through the commissioning of new music has always been a feature of Stephen’s work. He has taken part in over 300 world premieres including chamber music of Georg Haas and Sally Beamish (alongside the composer) and solo works of Mark Simpson\, Simon Holt\, Michael Finnissy and Errollyn Wallen.\nRecent solo appearances include: Feldman’s complete “The Viola in My Life” at Cafe Oto and “Rothko Chapel” with the New London Chamber Choir\, Jonathan Harvey’s Jubilus and Benjamin Graves’ concerto “Four Façades” with the Riot Ensemble\, and recitals in the Time of Music (Finland)\, Brighton and Little Missenden Festivals\, Kettle’s Yard and the National Gallery.\nStephen has also toured regularly to the USA\, Europe and Asia with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and its music director\, Joshua Bell and works with the Chineke! Orchestra as principal viola and as a member of the chamber players.\nStephen is professor of viola and chamber music at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Junior Department and plays a 1715 Daniel Parker school viola currently made available to him by the Stradivari Trust.

DESCRIPTION:Students and faculty collaborate on architecture research in the 19\,000-square-foot Liberty Research Annex. Located in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor\, Michigan\, this open-plan facility provides space for students and faculty to collaboratively take on full-scale material assemblies\, installations\, and group projects. Students and faculty engage in architectural research through the process of researching and making. Additionally\, the facility contains a 3\,000-square-foot exhibition gallery\, which is open to the public and contributes to the vibrant downtown Ann Arbor arts scene.
