DESCRIPTION:Are you looking to explore the arts in Ann Arbor with a small group? Join us at the annual FoolMoon festival in downtown Ann Arbor! \n\nThe FoolMoon festival is a light-filled night of spectacle art and fun! Each year brings fantastical luminary sculptures created by students and community members to light up the night. Come on your own or bring a friend! Snacks will be provided. \n\nWe will meet outside the Sweetwaters in the Michigan Union\, then we will follow the parade procession from the UMMA to Washington Street (15 minute walk). After the parade there will be live music\, dancing\, light shows\, and artful experiences. You are welcome to dress in creative costumes and/or bring a lantern/luminary sculpture if you'd like!

DESCRIPTION:The University of Michigan Symphony Band closes its season with a very special performance in conjunction with the North Central Division Conference of the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA). Collegiate musicians and teachers from across the Midwest will be in attendance for a concert that includes the talents and music of several U-M faculty members. New music from Composition professors Evan Chambers and Kristin Kuster will be joined by the consortium premiere of a brand new symphony by the lauded Mexican composer Arturo Marquez. All three pieces were made possible by the support of the H. Robert Reynolds Commissioning Fund. DESCRIPTION:April 10th\, 2026\n \nIt’s a bird! It's a plane! It's a Fool with wings! \nFoolMoon returns to downtown Ann Arbor with light-filled art\, street dancing\, and Foolish FUN! This magical outdoor nighttime event features hundreds of quirky community-made luminary sculptures centered around a huge outdoor dance party! This year's theme\, \"Fools of a Feather\"\, invites winged creatures of all kinds to come dance the night away! \n \nOn Friday\, April 10th\, at 7:30pm\, FoolMoon participants will gather at one of three “Constellation Stations” (Slauson Middle School\, U-M Art Museum\, or Kerrytown Farmers Market) to form a huge processional to downtown Ann Arbor. Stepping off at 8pm\, celebrants will dance and cavort through downtown Ann Arbor\, winding through neighborhoods and past stores and restaurants\, arriving at Washington & Ashley for this popular outdoor celebration of luminous artwork\, creative costumes\, and Live Music! \n\nAll are invited to make their very own illuminated sculpture to bring to FoolMoon on their own or at our Free Luminary Making Workshop Series\, held in downtown Ann Arbor every Sunday during the month of March.
