SUMMARY:Reception / Open House:\"With Care\" Opening Reception and Q & A
DESCRIPTION:About the Exhibition\nNicole Marroquin is an interdisciplinary artist\, researcher\, and educator whose practice explores spatial justice and Latinx history. Deeply rooted in community\, she cultivates and reaffirms the human connections that ultimately sustain us. Her recent work explores the emergent themes of belonging as seen through the histories of student rebellions in Chicago public schools between 1968 and 1980.\n\nHer site-specific installation With Care\, created for the Institute for the Humanities Gallery\, presents the documentary photographs of influential Mexican-born artist\, teacher\, and friend Diana Solís in visual dialogue with Marroquin’s own creative work which includes ceramic sculptures and printmaking. Solís’s photography reflects over 25 years of transnational Chicana and lesbian organizing primarily in Chicago and Mexico City between 1975 and 1990.\n\nAbout the Artist\nNicole Marroquin is an interdisciplinary artist\, researcher\, and teacher educator whose work explores spatial justice and Latinx history. Marroquin works with youth and communities to decenter dominant narratives and to address displacement and erasure. Her current work explores belonging through histories of student rebellions in Chicago Public Schools from 1968 to 1980. Through research and creative practice\, she aims to recover and re-present histories of Black and brown youth and women’s leadership in the struggle for justice in Chicago.

SUMMARY:Livestream / Virtual:Living Well with Bipolar Disorder webinar
DESCRIPTION:What does it mean to live well with bipolar disorder? \n\nJoin the Heinz C. Prechter Bipolar Research Program for a dialogue about wellness and bipolar disorder. Our team of researchers\, clinicians\, and Prechter Program participants will discuss what wellness means when living with bipolar disorder\, how individual lived experiences shape wellness\, and how research plays a role in establishing wellness. \n\nDr. Sperry\, a researcher in the Prechter Program and Clinical Psychologist in the Bipolar Clinic at Michigan Medicine\, will speak about the importance of measuring well-being as an outcome in clinical care and research studies. She will discuss current research that highlights the need to re-define well-being\, or\, what it means to be living well with bipolar disorder. Dr. Sperry will end by introducing an important new initiative of the Prechter Program\, the development of new tools to measure well-being\, incorporating the perspective and voices of those with lived experience. \n\nPrechter Program research participants will share their perspectives on wellness and how to sustain wellness with bipolar disorder in a roundtable discussion.\n\nLearn more here: michmed.org/KqZYR
