DESCRIPTION:Hello!\n\nWe are reaching out on behalf of the Planet Blue Student Leaders’ Off-Campus Housing Team. We are launching a pilot project on fridge organization for off-campus housing students. If you are a student living in off-campus housing and share a fridge with others\, this project might be for you!\n\nDid you know that\, on average\, each off-campus college student produces 38 pounds of food waste a year (RecyclingWorks)? With food prices steadily rising (about 6.8% in 2021 alone\, according to the US Bureau of Labor) this can make a serious impact on student budgets.\n\nOur aim is to empower students to organize their fresh and refrigerated produce and food to save money\, make food last longer\, and reduce food waste. SUMMARY:Exhibition:Beautiful By Night
DESCRIPTION:Artist James Hosking lived in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood from 2010 to 2018\, during which time he developed the *Beautiful By Night* photo series and documentary film. The work is about the veteran drag performers at Aunt Charlie’s Lounge\, a small bar that has had an outsized influence on San Francisco’s LGBTQ+ community for more than twenty years. Sadly\, it is now the last gay bar in the area. The project captures the performers Donna Personna\, Olivia Hart\, and Collette LeGrande as they transform at home\, backstage\, and onstage. SUMMARY:Presentation:Clinical Brown Bag:  Links Between Early-Life Contextual Factors and Later-Life Cognition and the Role of Educational Attainment
DESCRIPTION:Abstract:\nThe amount of schooling we receive has implications for later-life cognition\, but less is known about upstream contextual factors that could also play a role in this process. Previous research has been limited in expanding outside of traditional socioeconomic variables in childhood. Early-life conditions related to household and school factors may serve as an area of emphasis when attempting to uncover critical precursors to educational and cognitive outcomes later in life. Through the implementation of a sequential mediation model\, this study aimed to identify which early-life contextual factors uniquely predict later-life cognition and whether educational attainment serves as a mechanism of these relationships. This talk will address the importance of including an ecological and life-course perspective of cognition as well as potential points of policy intervention aimed at decreasing disparities in cognitive aging.

SUMMARY:Exhibition:Prisons and Politics in America
DESCRIPTION:This exhibit examines the political reasons for why people are imprisoned: for speaking out\, for writing\, for violating repressive laws\, framed because of their color or politics\, for stealing from the rich\, for refusing the military draft\, for whistleblowing\, for attempting to overthrow the government\, for standing up for a belief\, or for walking over a forbidden line.\n\nThe items focus on maintaining one's humanity behind bars\, promoting political causes\, and offering solidarity in support of prisoners.\n\nThe groups and individuals whose stories are featured in the Labadie Collection share one thing in common: fighting to make a better world. In the process\, many of them have been arrested\, brutalized\, censored\, deported\, imprisoned\, or executed. Some were innocent victims of violent police or discriminatory policies.\n\nThe U-M Library’s Joseph A. Labadie Collection documents the history of social protest movements and marginalized political communities from the nineteenth century to the present. Established in 1911\, it is the oldest and largest public archive of its kind in the world.
