SUMMARY:Performance:Prometheus. Beginnings
DESCRIPTION:Prometheus. Beginnings is a devised dance theatre work\, conceived by Tzveta Kassabova with the cast\, that takes inspiration and ideas from two plays written by the Berlin-based playwright Kevin Rittberger. The piece creates the environment in which some of the pressing questions of our time float in\, come to focus\, and interact with each other. The piece is an exploration of an entanglement of movement\, spoken word\, improvisational music score by Steve Hilmy and the evocative set of the production. Prometheus. Beginnings was originally created in the context of the conference “Diffractive World-Making – Theatre and Science Beyond the Capitalocene” and an initial version was premiered at the University of Indiana.\n\n‘Through metamorphosis I alter my form\nWhich has given rise to nothing but greed\nMay my limbs be covered in soft bark\nHairs become leaves\nArms become branches\nAll that remains is radiance. ‘ —Kevin Rittberger

SUMMARY:Performance:Shawn Mullins
DESCRIPTION:Atlanta-born songwriter Shawn Mullins hit it big in the late 1990s with his “Soul’s Core” album\, and the all-over-the-radio singles “Lullaby” and “Beautiful Wreck.” He has never slowed down\, recording for Vanguard and other labels\, and performing many wonderful shows at The Ark. For the 20th anniversary of “Soul’s Core\,” Shawn will revisit the music and record two new versions of the album. He is calling this “Soul’s Core Revival.” This is not a remix or a remaster of the original\, but rather brand-new recordings with new arrangements of the songs—one album will be new stripped-down solo performances\, some on guitar\, some on piano or a cappella\, and the second will be a new studio recording with his full band\, Soul Carnival. Shawn’s special guests will be the duo of Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams\, whose new album\, “Live at Levon’s\,” was recorded at Levon Helm Studios.
