SUMMARY:Livestream / Virtual:2025 MPSDS PhD Program Information Session
DESCRIPTION:December 2\, 2025\n6:00PM-7:00PM\nRegistration Required\n\nThe Michigan Program of Survey and Data Science (MPSDS) trains future generations of survey and data scientists at the intersection of social research and data science. Join us for our virtual information session to learn more about our master's program and the admissions process.\n\nThe Michigan Program in Survey and Data Science curriculum is concerned with a broad set of data sources\, including survey data\, social media posts\, sensor data\, and administrative records\, as well as analytic methods for working with these new data sources. We bring a strong focus on data quality — something often missing in traditional data science programs.\n\nFind out additional information about the program and our admissions process on our website or contact the program at MPSDS.isr@umich.edu.\n\nThis session will be recorded and posted on the department's website following the conclusion of the event.

SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:Alternative Breaks: Getting the Most From Your Trip-Based Community Engagement Experience
DESCRIPTION:Are you planning or participating in an alternative break program? Trip-based service experiences can be transformative for students and a crucial component of sustainability for community-based organizations that rely on volunteers to advance their mission. Join the Ginsberg Center for a workshop that covers everything you need to know to get the most from your alternative break experience. From the nuts and bolts of planning and preparing\, to the big-picture questions of how to engage ethically and equitably with the communities you serve\, this workshop is for you – whether you are leading a trip\, participating in a trip\, or thinking about whether to get involved with a trip-based service experience in the future. Participants will leave with a better understanding of how to make these trips successful\, and the university resources available to help you get there (literally and figuratively). \n\nFor students who are:\n\nPart of a class or organization that is planning a trip-based service activity or similar “alternative break” experience \n\nLooking for activities to do when classes are not in session (e.g. winter\, spring\, and summer breaks)\n\nExploring ways to engage with communities \n\nTrying to choose extracurricular activities
