SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:BULK X Stamps Gallery: Reflections on Legacy
DESCRIPTION:\n\nInspired by the exhibition Legacies: Contemporary Art Dialogues with Clay—presented by Stamps Gallery at DDD Gallery and organized in conjunction with the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts 2026 conference in Detroit—Reflections on Legacy is a hands-on printmaking workshop that explores how artistic traditions are preserved\, translated\, and transformed across generations.\n\nThe exhibition brings together intergenerational artists working in clay and honors practices such as painting\, mark-making\, and pottery as forms of resistance and resilience. In response\, this workshop considers printmaking as a parallel site of inheritance and innovation. Participants will work with risograph printing\, exploring its layered color process\, tactile textures\, and capacity for repetition as tools for storytelling and collective image-making.\n\nParticipants are encouraged to reflect on personal\, diasporic\, and ancestral histories while examining how symbols\, gestures\, and material processes carry memory. Attendees are invited to bring photographs\, family documents\, and meaningful images to incorporate into their prints\, collectively building visual archives that honor family legacies and lived histories. What marks do we inherit? What forms do we reimagine? Together\, we will explore printmaking as a method of recovery and regeneration\, translating embodied knowledge into contemporary visual language.\n\nOpen to artists of all levels\, Reflections on Legacy centers collective making as an act of world-building that bridges past and present while imagining future lineages through print.\n\nThis workshop is organized by BULK in collaboration with Stamps Gallery.
