SUMMARY:Exhibition:Watcher of the Sky: Making and Remaking the Detroit Observatory
DESCRIPTION:The Detroit Observatory was once a hub of astronomical discovery that put the University of Michigan on the map as a world-class research institution. A century later\, it was an abandoned building with an uncertain future. From cornerstone to keystone\, from the first director to the people who saved it from destruction\, explore the life of a historic observatory 170 years in the making.\n\n\"Watcher of the Sky\" is being developed by student docents at the Detroit Observatory. They are currently collaborating with a museum design firm on the final version of the exhibit\, which will debut in fall 2025. We invite you to check out what they've done so far.\n\nPresented by the Judy and Stanley Frankel Detroit Observatory\, part of the Bentley Historical Library.\n\n\"Watcher of the Sky\" is now on display at the Detroit Observatory (1398 Ann Street\, Ann Arbor\, 48109). View the exhibit during the Observatory's open hours: \nThursdays\, 12-5 pm\nFridays\, 12-5 pm

SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:Taking Care: Finding Balance in Personal and Collective Wellbeing
DESCRIPTION:Join Wolverine Wellness for an interactive workshop created especially for student staff\, leaders\, and students in other helping roles who want to care for themselves and their communities more intentionally.\n\nIn the rush of daily life\, we often move so quickly that we don’t pause to check in with ourselves. For many\, especially depending on lived experiences\, identifying or naming what we’re experiencing can feel unfamiliar or uncomfortable. But tuning in to our early warning signs can help us respond with care.\n\nThis workshop will help you unpack the relationship between stress and the eight dimensions of wellness\, while offering practical strategies to strengthen your own resilience and show up for your peers with compassion and care.\n\nThrough this interactive session\, you will:\n\n\nUnderstand the difference between eustress and distress\nIdentify stressors in your own life and how they affect your well-being\nDiscuss short-term\, evidence-based stress reduction techniques\nDiscover campus resources for ongoing mental health support\nExplore how to care for your own well-being while supporting others in theirs\n\n\nWhether you're leading a student org\, mentoring others\, or simply trying to find balance\, this workshop will offer space to reflect\, connect\, and strengthen your capacity for well-being — individually and collectively.
