The overarching objective of these academies is to foster a research community that can drive the advancement of data science applications in a wide range of research fields.\n\nAcademy Topics\n\n    Bayesian inferencing through exact and approximate techniques.\n    Real world applications and explanations of Natural Language Processing.\n    Causal inferencing and how to use it in various problem scenarios.\n    Introduction to probablistic programming languages.\n    Various explainable AI techniques and explorations of their applications.\n\nOutcomes:\n\n    Expertise in various statistical and AI techniques\, including explainable AI\, Bayesian inferencing\, natural language processing\, causal inferencing and real world applications of each\n    Networking with instructors and fellow participants\n    Certificate of completion attesting to the above skills and knowledge\n    A set of resources for continual improvement in the various technical domains\n\nTuition cost:\nWe will send payment instructions along with acceptance decisions.\n\n    $1\,000 for external participants (30% discount for U-M Alums)\n    Thanks to support from the University\, we are able to offer a reduced price of $50 for U-M personnel and students\n\nRegistration Timeline:\nPlease register by June 15. DESCRIPTION:From August 10-13\, Steinway & Sons Institutional Division is holding a piano sale at SMTD. Over 125 grand and upright pianos will be available for purchase\, including pianos leased to SMTD\, pianos being retired by the school\, and a special allocation of slightly used Steinway and Steinway-designed Boston and Essex pianos. Restored and reconditioned Steinway grands and used pianos from Yamaha\, Kawai\, Baldwin\, Schimmel and many others will also be available. This sale is part of an ongoing relationship that enables the University to acquire funds to purchase additional pianos for classrooms\, studios and practice rooms.\nTo attend the sale:\nMake a private appointment for Thursday\, Friday or Saturday\, August 10-12\, by calling 734-764-6117.
