DESCRIPTION:The Computer Science & Engineering Undergraduate Advising Office (CSE UAO) is excited to announce our annual CSE Undergraduate Welcome event for declared CSE students (CS-Eng\, CS-LSA\, DS-ENG\, CS Minor\, and AI Minor) or any students interested in our programs!\n\n\nOur welcome event will take place on Thursday\, September 10\, 2026 from 2-4:00pm in the Leinweber Building on North Campus!\n\n\nThe event will feature tabling from various CSE resources\, including select CSE offices and closely related campus partners\, so you can learn more about the services and opportunities available to you as a student in CSE! There will also be free food while supplies last and the opportunity to connect with CSE faculty\, staff\, and fellow students.

SUMMARY:Lecture / Discussion:School of Social Work's Goal: Train leaders to Reach Out\, Raise Hope and Change Society
DESCRIPTION:Dean\, School of Social Work and the Phillip Fellin Collegiate Professor of Social Work at the University of Michigan\n\nDean Angell will describe her background as a social work educator and scholar. She will talk about how U-M\, a leader in social work education for more than a century\, is building on its tradition of excellence through the School of Social Work’s high-impact research\, diverse curriculum options and commitment to strong community collaboration. Founded as a distinct school in 1951\, the school has graduated more than 18\,000 students and has been consistently ranked #1 by U.S. News and World Report since 2012. Prior to becoming a dean\, Angell conducted research and taught courses on behavioral health\, focusing on serious mental illness and its intersection with substance abuse and the criminal justice system. Prior to joining U-M in 2022\, Angell served as dean of the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Work. She is a Fellow and vice president-elect of the Society for Social Work and Research.
