DESCRIPTION:Elections\n aren't just about what happens at the ballot box—they're about how \ncommunities build power\, hold leaders accountable\, and drive systemic \nchange from the ground up.\n\nJoin Semester in Detroit and the Michigan Community Scholars Program for our 3rd Annual Day in Detroit\, an immersive day trip to the city\, where we will connect directly with the organizers who are reshaping electoral and community politics. On this trip we'll move past campaign headlines to explore the actual tools\, strategies\, and relationships that drive social change and policy.\nThe day includes:Morning workshops about power mapping and community organizing w/local education justice coalition 482ForwardLunchtime Community Dialogue & Reflections with SiD alumni at the U-M Detroit Center in MidtownHands-on Afternoon Excursion -- head to Greenfield Village at The Henry Ford to explore this collection of historic homes\nDay in Detroit is open to all students. Free roundtrip transportation\, lunch\, and museum admission is provided for registrants. We tentatively expect to leave Ann Arbor at 9 a.m. and return at 6 p.m. Note: MCSP students may count this event for a PACS\, PBU\, or IRC event.\n

DESCRIPTION:Ready to put some miles on the board for Michigan? Join Exercise Is Medicine for the first annual Michigan Walking Challenge!\n \nWalk\, run\, or roll wherever you are: on campus\, at home\, on a treadmill\, or along your favorite route. Your everyday movement counts! Go at your own pace\, invite a friend\, and help add to Michigan’s total as we take part in a challenge with other universities.\n \nThe challenge is open to all U-M students\, faculty\, and staff. Track the miles you travel during the eight-hour window using a phone\, watch\, treadmill\, or measured route\, then report your total in miles.\n \nThe three students with the highest reported distances will each win a Michigan Recreation UNLIMITED Group-X pass for the Fall semester. \n \nSIGN UP HERE. Advance registration is encouraged so we can send reminders\, but you do not need to register beforehand to participate.
