SUMMARY:Careers / Jobs:Resume Studio
DESCRIPTION:Whether you already have a resume or are brand new to the process\, our Resume Studio will give you the skills and tools you need to create a strong resume. Hub Coaches will be available on-site to help you craft a strong resume. Make sure to bring your laptop or tablet.\n\nLook forward to receiving answers to the following questions:\n\n How should I structure my resume?\n How can I speak to previous and relevant experiences?\n Is there a specific way I should write my resume bullet points?\n\nPlease note that this event is in person only – it is highly recommended to register if you plan on attending as there are limited seats available.\n\nThere are some resources included on the registration page to assist your learning.\n\n\nThe Opportunity Hub aims to deliver inclusive and accessible experiences and welcomes all LSA students to participate. This event is on the first floor of a wheelchair accessible building which includes wheelchair-accessible restrooms on the first floor\, a gender-inclusive and accessible restroom on the first floor as well\, and places to sit or stand during the event. To request other accommodations please contact LSA Hub Events at lsa.hubevents@umich.edu or 734-763-4674 so we can make arrangements.

SUMMARY:Lecture / Discussion:AIM Seminar: Math and physics at the moiré scale
DESCRIPTION:Abstract: Placing a two-dimensional lattice with a small rotation gives rise to almost periodic \"moiré\" patterns on a superlattice scale much larger than the original lattice. We have used the mathematical techniques developed to study waves in inhomogeneous media to identify a regime where the Bistritzer-MacDonald continuum model emerges as the effective dynamics for electrons modeled as wave-packets spectrally concentrated at the monolayer Dirac points of linear dispersion\, up to error that we rigorously estimate. We have shown that this regime is realized in twisted bilayer graphene at the first \"magic\" angle where the group velocity of the wave packet is zero and strongly correlated electronic phases (superconductivity\, Mott insulators\, etc.) have recently been observed.\n\nWe will present recent results that rigorously extend this analysis to account for the effects of structural relaxation and to essentially arbitrary moiré materials such as twisted multilayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) or even twisted heterostructures consisting of layers of distinct 2D materials.\n\nContact: Ian Tobasco
