SUMMARY:Careers / Jobs: Fehribach Center: Paid Internships for Students with Physical Disabilities
DESCRIPTION:\"Come meet Larry Markle and Carlos Taylor from the Gregory S. Fehribach Center on Wednesday\, November 29\, at 2pm for a virtual presentation on the Fehribach Center’s internship program for students with physical disabilities. \n\nThe Gregory S. Fehribach Center in Indianapolis hosts an internship program for college students with physical disabilities (mobility\, orthopedic\, visual\, & hearing) in which students are placed in a paid internship in a position that correlates with their academic major. Internships are very important in preparing college students for employment after graduation\, and this is especially true for students with disabilities. A good internship experience gives the student real-world workexperience and important networking opportunities that will help in finding equitable employment after graduation.\n\nTo this point\, 195 students from 40 colleges have participated in a total of 400 internships\, with 63students interning in the summer of 2023. Internships are available for students who just finished their freshman year of college up to graduates within the last calendar year\, and internships can be provided for nearlyall academic majors. Among the 39 employers who have hosted Fehribach Center interns are: Eskenazi Health\, Eli Lilly\, Cummins\, Ice Miller\, BraunAbility\, the Indiana Pacers\, the Indianapolis Children’s Museum\, and Christel House International. In addition to the internship\, housing and transportation assistance is provided as needed\, and impactful professional development opportunities are offered for Fehribach Center interns. \n\nMore information about the Fehribach Center is attached and on the Fehribach Center’s website: https://www.eskenazihealth.edu/programs/Fehribach-Center. Please contact Fehribach Center staff members Larry Markle (larry.markle@eskenazihealth.edu) or Carlos Taylor (carlos.taylor@eskenazihealth.edu) if you have any questions.\"
