SUMMARY:Conference / Symposium:Asian American High School Conference
DESCRIPTION:High School Conference (HSC) is a free\, one-day conference held at the University of Michigan that aims to help Asian American (AsAm) high school students explore their identity\, gain insight into college life\, and meet fellow peers in the AsAm and PI community.\n\nThis year\, our conference theme is “Choose Your Own Adventure” through which we hope to inspire students to create their own path as they level up into a new phase of their lives. We encourage students to explore their identities and possible career paths through interactive events and workshops offered at the conference. This year’s theme highlights retro video games\, evoking a sense of belonging to one’s past and encouraging students to explore and carry cultural heritage with them as they move forward. There will also be performances from a variety of organizations on campus!\n\nAsAm HSC is a legacy program for high school students within the United Asian American Organizations (UAAO). Registration is required. The Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs is a co-sponsor and helps advise the planning committee as needed.

SUMMARY:Exhibition:Mrs. Dalloway and WWI: Home Front and War Front
DESCRIPTION:This exhibit explores the characters of Mrs. Dalloway through the lens of WWI and its aftershocks. It looks at those who fought in the trenches and those who watched from afar.\n\n[The exhibit includes references to suicide and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder\, which might be distressing for some visitors. Viewer discretion is advised.]\n\nWhile all of the action in Virginia Woolf’s modernist masterpiece takes place on a single day\, as preparations are made for Clarissa Dalloway’s evening party\, Woolf’s stream of consciousness writing takes us in the characters’ minds all the way from English drawing rooms to colonial India to the trenches of World War I.\n\nCheck today's Hatcher Gallery Exhibit Room hours: https://myumi.ch/PkQ2x
