DESCRIPTION:Graduate students Eva Albalghiti & Mitty Ma perform on the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Carillon\, an instrument of 60 bells with the lowest bell (bourdon) weighing 6 tons.\n\nThirty-minute recitals are performed on the Lurie Carillon every weekday that classes are in session. During these recitals\, visitors may take the elevator to level 2 to view the largest bells\, or to level 3 to see the carillonist performing. (Visitors subject to acrophobia are recommended to visit level 2 only.) An optional spiral stairway between levels 2 and 3 allows for up-close views of some of the largest bells.

DESCRIPTION:Panelists: \nDr. Robert Sellers\, Former Chief Diversity Officer and Vice Provost for Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion\nDr. Deborah Rivas-Drake\, Associate Dean for Diversity\, Inclusion\, Justice\, and Equity\, Marsal Family School of Education\nDr. Nadia Bazzy\, Director of the Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs (MESA)\nModerator:\nDr. Kevin Cokley\, Associate Chair for Diversity Initiatives\, Department of Psychology\n\nAcross the country there has been a growing number of well-coordinated attacks against diversity\, equity\, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in higher education. As of March 2024\, 80 anti-DEI bills have been introduced in 24 states. Eight have become law\, 9 have final legislative approval\, while 30 have been tabled\, failed to pass\, or vetoed. Critics are announcing that this is the beginning of the end for DEI in America’s institutions. In this panel\, participants will discuss the future of DEI. They will address the successes of DEI as well as the ongoing challenges. Panelists will also answer questions such as “What’s next for DEI?”\, “What’s working and what’s not working?”\, and “Where do we go from here?”.
