SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:Robotics Pathways and Career Speaker Series
DESCRIPTION:The Robotics Pathways and Careers Speaker Series (RPCSS) invites professionals working in robotics to come talk with current undergraduates about their career path\, how a background in robotics has impacted their professional growth\, and what they hope to see in students looking to enter the profession.\n\nThe 90-minute format of the event will consist of a 30 minute presentation from the invited speaker and up to 60 minutes of moderated Q&A and discussion. Students will be able to participate in person or remotely.\n\nNo RSVP needed\, all undergrads welcome!\n\nZoom Link: https://umich.zoom.us/j/92286702864\n\nKarl is a Software Engineer on the autonomy team at Skydio\, where he helps develop Skydio’s Visual Positioning System. Karl graduated from UM with a BSE and MSE in Computer Engineering and started his career at Google working on Adwords and Android before leaving to start his own company in the food / tech space. After continuing to work in that space for a bit\, Karl decided to shift gears and get into robotics. This is where U of M came back into the picture\, as Karl worked in the UM Ford Center for Autonomous Vehicles as a research engineer\, which launched him solidly into the robotics field\, first at Toyota Research Engineer (TRI) working on autonomous vehicles\, and now Skydio.

SUMMARY:Presentation:Community\, Impact\, Activism: NASA at 50
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a community dinner and launch party for a community-facing website chronicling the Native American Student Association (NASA) at the University of Michigan. Begun in 1972 NASA has worked for 50 years to bring Native American and Indigenous students together\, to advocate for Native American rights\, and to challenge UM to be better. This project combines archival research about significant moments of Native American student activism and interviews with current students and alumni to tell the story of NASA as a community that has shaped student experience and institutional action for decades. This is an informal event to celebrate the NASA community's history and ongoing presence and to introduce a digital archive created by and for the community.\n\nRSVP: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScvokxozVW8RiZwipp7b9cxPzSiC0ZKP8oAw7MNXdaQw3q5nA/viewform
