SUMMARY:Other:LGBTQ+ VR Museum Open House
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the LGBTQ+ VR Museum Open House hosted by the Digital Studies Institute and the Just XR Futures Lab on Oct. 7 and Oct. 10\, 2024.\n\nThe LGBTQ+ VR Museum was created by DiVRse Technologies\, a world-leading immersive studio that produces ground-breaking digital experiences using VR and XR technologies. \n\nDisrupting historical gatekeeping and erasure of marginalized voices\, DiVRse Technologies uses VR to share stories and artifacts curated directly from the queer community. The LGBTQ+ community globally contributed dozens of personal items scanned into 3D and 2D artworks\, that contextualize their lived experiences. Layers of interactive content appear and programmatically respond to visitors' emotions in real-time as they explore the VR museum.\n\nAll are welcome. The LGBTQ+ VR Museum was designed to be accessible\, so people of all abilities can experience the exhibits\, artifacts\, and stories.\n\nPlease register at U-M Sessions at the following link: https://myumi.ch/zXyd9\n\nWe want to make our events accessible to all participants. If you anticipate needing additional accommodations to participate or have any questions\, please email Eric Mancini at dsi-administration@umich.edu. Please note that some accommodations must be arranged in advance and we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible.\n\nThis event is co-sponsored by:\n\nCenter for Ethics\, Computing\, and Society\nDepartment of Communication & Media\nLSA Technology Services\nJust XR Futures Lab\nInstitute for Research on Women and Gender\nSearch Engines: Art\, Tech\, and Justice\nSpectrum Center

SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:People and Relationships First
DESCRIPTION:All too often differing expectations and relationship dynamics are a determining factor of a successful and sustainable research project. How do you then intentionally foster meaningful\, collaborative\, and equitable research partnerships\, across the university and with external partners? In this workshop\, participants will consider the different partners and publics they are already engaging with or might engage with in the future\; gain an understanding of relationship-building frameworks and tools to foster effective and equitable partnerships\; and\, reflect on what relationship dynamics can look like in practice. \nAny questions?
