DESCRIPTION:.\n \nUMMA and Arts at Michigan celebrate Welcome Week by introducing new University of Michigan students to the Museum of Art for an evening of  live music\, performances\, dance\, poetry\, film\, games\, prize raffle\, and a variety of art-making activities.  During the event\, students will  have the opportunity to become familiar with the Museum and everything it has to offer\, as well as experience the wide array of possibilities for arts participation across campus. \n \nAll students\, faculty and staff on the Ann Arbor (including Michigan Medicine)\, Dearborn and Flint campuses are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and submit their vaccination information by August 30. In addition\, masks will be required in all indoor spaces and social distancing guidelines will be in place.\n \nStudent programming at UMMA is generously supported by the University of Michigan Credit Union Arts Adventures Program\, UMMA's Lead Sponsor for Student and Family Engagement.\n \n \n\n

Please review The Ark’s current COVID-related information before attending a show.*\n\nGeorge Bedard presents “Jump Blues – Big Brother to Rock ‘n Roll\,\" the eighth installment of his History of American Music series.  “The small combo jump blues of the ‘40s and early ‘50s was\, along with country\, one of the main tributaries leading to rock ‘n roll”\, says Bedard. “We will thread the show through Big Joe Turner\, whose career spanned the boogie-woogie and Kansas City jazz of the ‘30s to the early rock ‘n roll era\, and whom I had the honor to play with”.\n\nThis show will feature Mark “Mr. B” Braun on piano\, a horn section led by Chris Smith\, and of course Rich Dishman on drums and Pat Prouty on bass.\n\nRescheduled from August 29\, 2020.
