SUMMARY:Careers / Jobs:PICS Career Event. Refugee Resettlement in the United States and Internship Opportunities
DESCRIPTION:The refugee crisis is arguably one of the worst humanitarian crises of our generation. So\, what role does the United States play for these 25 million+ people forced to flee from their home country due to war\, persecution\, or violence? Through this session\, learn more about the refugee resettlement process in the United States and the refugee resettlement agencies across the nation. From greeting refugees the second they step off the airplane to completing family reunification immigration applications\, see how you can explore opportunities to make a seemingly distant humanitarian issue into an introspective reality.\n\nPlease RSVP at the following link to attend: http://myumi.ch/jx40K \n \n John Yim is a graduate student at the University of Michigan's Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy\, focusing on international policy and national security. He received a bachelor's degree in Public Policy and International Studies at the University of Michigan in 2015. Prior to graduate school\, he oversaw the largest refugee resettlement agency in Michigan and fourth in the nation.\n\nIf you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation to attend this event\, please reach out to us at is-michigan@umich.edu at least 2 weeks in advance of this event.
