DESCRIPTION:The EXCEL Lab will host an immersion in Detroit to explore arts careers in South East Michigan. The immersion will be from Sunday\, March 2nd - Monday\, March 3rd 2025.Detroit Immersion: Exploring ArtsCareersAre you interested in pursuing a career as an artsadministrator? Have a desire to connect with performers and arts organizations in Metro Detroit? If you answered yes to either of these questions you should consider participating in the Winter 2025 Detroit Immersion. This experiential program will allow students to learn about various arts careers\, connect with arts professionals\, and experience the vibrant arts culture in Detroit. Travel\, lodging\, most meals\, and talkbacks will be covered by the EXCEL Lab. Registration for the immersion is $25 and will beused to subsidize your ticket for the performance of Confederates by SMTD Alum Dominique Morisseau! Current plans include:Sunday\, March 2\, meet at Earl V. DESCRIPTION:Join us in the Science Forum for a 15-20 minute engaging science demonstration that will help you see the world in a whole new way. Demonstrations are free and appropriate for visitors ages 5 and above. Schedule subject to change.\n\nExplore the unseen lives of owls in this hands-on demonstration. Together\, we will use museum specimens to learn about some of owls’ unique adaptations\, like big eyes\, specialized ears\, quiet wings\, and sharp claws. What do these adaptations tell us about how owls eat? How are these modern raptors related to dinosaurs? Find out what an owl pellet is (Hint: it's not poop!) and dissect a real owl pellet to learn about the owl's diet. Come and discover the role of these birds of prey in the food chain!\n\nSpecial demos on February 15 and 16.
