SUMMARY:Tours:Sunday Drop-In Tour | Trash or Treasure? Extraordinarily Ordinary Kelsey Artifacts
DESCRIPTION:The Kelsey Museum is home to an impressive number of artifacts that provide insights into the everyday lives of people from the ancient Mesopotamian\, Egyptian\, and Roman worlds. This tour will look at the Kelsey’s carefully excavated and curated artifacts—which their original owners would be shocked to see on display behind glass in a temperature-controlled building. In fact\, some of these items would have been considered trash or recyclables! Check your hoarding tendencies at the door and join us as we learn more about the priceless everyday artifacts at the Kelsey.\n\nThis program is being presented as part of the College of LSA’s Year of Sustainability\, an initiative dedicated to addressing the climate crisis and promoting new strategies that enhance U-M’s commitment to sustainability. For more information\, visit https://sustainable-lsa.umich.edu/. \n\nThis event is free and open to all visitors. If you have any questions or concerns regarding accessing this event\, please visit our accessibility page at https://myumi.ch/zwPkd or contact the education office by calling (734) 647-4167. We ask for advance notice as some accommodations may require more time for the university to arrange.
