SUMMARY:Presentation:Developmental Psychology Visiting Scholar Talk: Early Life Stress and Children’s Learning: What Matters Most Might Not Be Obvious
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Lorraine Nadelman Visiting Scholar Fund\n\nDiscovering the processes through which early life experiences affect children’s development is critically important for developing prevention and interventions for youth exposed to adversity\, and also for understanding the basic science of human development and learning. Nearly all research on early experience\, socio-emotional development\, and neurobiology has been anchored on documenting specific (presumably stressful) events that have occurred in a child’s life. Yet\, there is increasing evidence that children’s perceptions of their own experiences and the meaning they construe from what has happened to them might be critical for understanding behavioral\, biological\, and learning outcomes. How can we better embrace this real- albeit messy- complexity of human development? This presentation aims to serve as a catalyst for thinking about these kinds of new future research directions.

DESCRIPTION:Join Eric Glover\, Campus Recruiting Manager\, to learn more about the Engineering &amp\; Architecture Associates Program at The PortAuthority of New York &amp\; New Jersey!The Engineering &amp\; Architecture Associates Program is a two-year rotational program opento Engineering and Architecture students who are receiving a bachelor’sor master’s degree between September 2024 and May 2025. Duringtheir first year\, Associates rotate through different Engineering/Architecture disciplines. Associates also rotate through different Port Authority facilities\, like: George Washington Bridge\; Holland Tunnel\; JFK Airport\; LaGuardia Airport\; Lincoln Tunnel\; Newark Airport\; PATH\; World Trade Center\; and more. In their second year\, Associates focus on the discipline they accepted an offer for. In addition to gaining hands-on experience and becoming part of the team in each rotation\, the Engineering &amp\; Architecture Associates Program also provides mentorship\, professional development\, training\, networking\, and facility tours.Associates are full-time\, permanent employees with a yearly salary and benefits. After successful completion of the program\, Associates remain permanent employees and are promoted to Associate Engineer/Architect. As of 2024\, there are close to 200 program alumni still working at the agency. Most Associates grow their careers within the Engineering Departmentwhile others transition to engineering roles in other departments like: Aviation\; Operations Services\; Major Capital Projects\; PATH\; Planning &amp\; Regional Development\; Port\; Sustainability\; Tunnels\, Bridges &amp\; Terminals\; World Trade Center\; and more.The 2025 cohort is expected to start in the beginning of June 2025.
