SUMMARY:Lecture / Discussion:Conferencing and Conferences in the Environmental Humanities
DESCRIPTION:First-time and seasoned conference attendees are encouraged to attend this discussion of conferencing and conferences in the Environmental Humanities. A range of speakers at different stages in their academic careers will present their insights on a range of topics including (but not limited to): How do you pitch and organize a conference panel? What opportunities can conferences lead to (publication? networking? conference committee involvement?)\, and how do you find and navigate these opportunities? What conferences have Environmental Humanists found particularly useful? An audience Q&A will follow the speakers' initial reflections. We will also discuss conferences outside the realm of the Environmental Humanities\, so even if you do not consider yourself an Environmental Humanities scholar\, we hope you will join us!

SUMMARY:Well-being:Heartfulness Guided Meditation
DESCRIPTION:Heartfulness Guided Meditation is a weekly\, drop-in program designed to help you Mental well-being. \n\nAll U-M students\, faculty\, and staff are welcome to participate in guided meditation practice with a trainer every Friday at noon over Zoom (details to join are provided below). No prior experience with meditation is required. \n\n*What will you learn?*\n\nThe guided meditation practice involves three simple steps: relaxation\, rejuvenation\, and meditation.\n\nRelaxation brings your body to a calm\, steady posture creating a stillness at the physical level\, and prepares the mind for meditation. Lastly\, learning to meditate by being mindful of your heart will connect you with yourself by listening to your heart’s voice. \n\n*Why Meditate?*\n\nWhile physical fitness keeps our bodies in shape\, meditation is an exercise for the mind and mental wellness. In addition to the measurable benefits mentally and physically\, many people benefit from an unquantifiable inner poise and harmony. \n\n*Please take Learn to Meditate session if you are new to the practice.
