SUMMARY:Reception / Open House:Arts and Resistance Mural Opening Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Twenty-four U-M students representing a wide spectrum of majors in Mark Tucker's Art in Public Spaces course have designed and painted a large-scale mural thematically reflecting the Arts and Resistance theme semester. This course\, offered through the Lloyd Scholars for Writing and the Arts Program\, and supported by the U-M Arts Initiative\, helps to develop students' visual literacy skills while contributing to a larger creative conversation revolving around public art and its role in responding to social justice and community issues. The Arts and Resistance Theme Semester Mural will be unveiled to the public on Thursday\, December 7th\, 3-5pm.\, inside Palmer Commons\, plaza level. In addition to meeting the students who painted the mural there will be refreshments and live music performed by U-M student band\, The Screws.
