SUMMARY:Performance:Gearheads
DESCRIPTION:GEARHEADS is an original musical comedy\, which follows the goings-on at an auto\nrepair shop on a Saturday\, when the shop’s owner and service manager are away\,\nleaving the mechanics to run things. When a customer shows up needing a\nsimple repair\, she can’t get anyone to help her\, because the guys would rather be\nanywhere else than at work. They turn their break room into a pseudo frat\nhouse\, and over the course of the day\, love is lost and found\, the youngest\nmechanic has a coming-of-age experience\, and the shop becomes a place where\neveryone belongs.\n\nThe show was written by UM (and Michigan Marching Band) alumnus Dave\nNettleman (B.S.E.\, ’81\; M.S.E.\, ’97)\, who wrote it in the style of musicals of the\n1950’s and 60’s. The score has been professionally orchestrated\, and a 20-piece\npit orchestra will accompany the cast of 18.\n\nThe Lydia Mendelssohn theater is hosting the world debut\, which will take place\non Saturday\, August 10 at 7pm. There are also shows at 2pm and 7pm on August\n11. Please note\, since there is some intense drama and spilling of blood\, this\nshow is not recommended for young children.\n\nPlease visit https://mutotix.umich.edu/5065/5072 for more detail.
