SUMMARY:Performance:Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters
DESCRIPTION:The music of Asheville\, North Carolina based outfit Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters is nuanced\, bringing insight and wit to the stories Platt tells through songwriting. Lyrically driven\, the band’s country roots music often inspires introspection\, whether it be about life on the road\, heartache\, or hope. There is an empathetic and charming wit ingrained in Platt’s songwriting. She has a knack for accessing a deep well of emotion and applying it to her storytelling\, whether she is writing from her own experiences or immersing herself into the melody of emotions in another person's life. Performing along with Platt\, The Honeycutters are Matt Smith (pedal steel and electric guitars)\, Kevin Williams (keys/vocals)\, Rick Cooper (bass/vocals)\, and Evan Martin (drums/vocals).\n\nhttps://www.honeycutters.com/

SUMMARY:Exhibition:Being Mixed Race in a Mono-racially Organized World
DESCRIPTION:The exhibit \"Being Mixed Race in a Mono-racially Organized World: Interracial Identity in the U.S. and Around the World — What Research and Mixed Race People Tell Us\" is an exploration into the library's collections about the diversity of mixed race heritage. Through research\, narratives\, demographic data\, and a variety of visual and published materials\, explore multifaceted aspects of mixed race heritage with insights from many perspectives.\n\nThe 2020 U.S. Census illuminated a 276 percent increase in individuals who identify as \"two or more races\" since 2010. In recognition of the growing numbers of mixed race-identifying people at the University of Michigan\, throughout the country\, and across the globe\, we're excited to unveil this new exhibit — a unique exploration of changing demographics and intersectional identities.\n\n[The Hatcher Library will be closed December 21 to January 1.]

SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:Biomedical Data Science Summer Academy 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Biomedical Summer Academy will introduce participants to key concepts of data science and Artificial Intelligence\, showing how they can be leveraged in biomedical research and incorporated into grant proposals. Previous course topics have included introductions to Python programming\, machine learning techniques\, and use-case examples.\n\nParticipants will come away from the summer academy with the necessary skills to abstractly consider data science solutions and apply them to biomedical problems. The summer academy is also a rich opportunity for interdisciplinary networking and research collaboration.\n\nFor more information\, please visit the event page at : https://midas.umich.edu/workshops/biomedical-academy-2024/
