With facilitator guidance\, participants will:\n\n-Practice mindful attention and appreciation for the natural environment.\n-Learn how to refresh your energy and reduce stress by being outside.\n-Cultivate a sense of awe\, curiosity\, connection\, and wonder.\n-Learn how to use the Nature Rx resources in the Michigan App.\n\nTuesday\, September 29\n12-12:45 pm\nLocation: Meet at the grassy area just in front of the Biological Sciences Building/Museum of Natural History\, 1105 North University\, Ann Arbor (near the Central Campus Transit Center and the Ruthven Building).\n\nPlease sign up to attend through the response form under \"Related links.\"\n\nWe will learn how to appreciate nature in all its forms\, and this session will be held rain or shine. Please note that this session requires moving or walking outdoors over a distance of approximately a quarter-mile. SUMMARY:Exhibition:“Who Counts? A History of Voting in America”
DESCRIPTION:Changes over the course of the nineteenth century in how Americans voted\, from voice vote to public ballot box to private voting booth\, also saw changes in the material culture that surrounded voting. Ballots and ballot boxes\, campaign pins and ribbons\, blank lists and pre-printed party tickets\, lanterns and banners–the creative forces of the American print industry filled the country’s cities and small towns with the ephemera of electioneering.\n\nAs you look at the items in this exhibit\, think about what they tell us about how Americans in the past felt about voting\, and about how voting felt. How did Election Days feel when they were full of parades and music and public drinking? What was it like to vote when everyone around you knew who you voted for? And\, most of all\, who counted as a voter\, and who did the counting?\n\nOn view September 11-December 22\, weekdays from 12-4 pm.

SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:A (Lottery) Ticket to the Middle Class: The Changing Structure of Downside Risk Among American College Graduates
DESCRIPTION:CID Speaker Series\n\nJoin the Stone Center for Inequality Dynamics as we host Tom VanHeuvelen\, associate professor of sociology at the University of Minnesota.\n\nAbstract: A college degree remains perhaps the final institutionalized pathway to middle-class socioeconomic attainment\, with recent college graduates attaining historically unprecedented earnings premiums. This project recovers a novel and unappreciated trend that coexists with this overall rising college premium: the rate of college graduates experiencing unambiguously negative labor-market outcomes has been growing for 25 years. Applying a relative distributional methodological approach to seven datasets spanning 75 years\, the project reveals the processes leading to rising economic risk among college graduates.\n\nTom VanHeuvelen is an associate professor of sociology at the University of Minnesota.
