DESCRIPTION:The DEI in Healthcare Summit & Mini-Case Competition\, organized by multiple student organizations\, will be held on January 25th. The event offers students a chance to compete for $1000 in prize money while engaging with important issues surrounding diversity\, equity\, and inclusion (DEI) in healthcare.The event is open to all students and welcomes participants from diverse backgrounds. The competition is a great opportunity for students to apply DEI strategies to real-world healthcare problems\, collaborate with peers\, and develop practical skills in a low-pressure\, high-reward environment.Here are some key details:Date: January 25\, 2025Time: The event begins at 9:30 AM for participants. Non-competitors can join at 12:00 PM for lunch\, discussions\, and a Health Equity Panel.Location:  SPH IPrizes: First place wins $1000\, second place receives $500\, and third place $250.Registration: Required and open until January 22nd. Students can sign up here. If they wish to compete with a partner\, they should register together. Early-bird registration is open until January 15th!Whether or not they choose to compete\, all students can benefit from attending the Health Equity Panel and student-led discussions\, which will feature experts from the field and address real-world DEI challenges in healthcare.

Dr. Elzada Clover contained multitudes\; she was a brazen botanist\, the first female University of Michigan botany professor\, the first female Matthaei Botanical Gardens curator\, the first scientist to document the flora of the remote Grand Canyon\, and along with her graduate assistant Lois Jotter\, they were first non-native woman to raft the entire length of the Colorado. This exhibit at Matthaei Botanical Gardens explores her remarkable journey and enduring contributions.
