SUMMARY:Performance:Julie Zhu\, carillon & electronics – “Clapper Shock: A Carillon + Electronics Concert”
DESCRIPTION:Carillonist Julie Zhu will premiere *Song for Erik*\, an inventive carillon composition by Swiss-Italian composer Simone Conforti that takes inspiration from the crunching sound of stopped clappers\, which informs the harmonic spectrum of the electronics. Conforti is a celebrated acousmatic composer and flutist based in Paris where he teaches computer music at IRCAM. Topics include the impacts of workplace accommodations on performance outcomes\, the delicate balance between performance discussions and accommodation discussions\, and defining the roles of HR professionals and Disability Equity Office (DEO) staff during the interactive process. Participants will gain valuable insight and guidance from DEO Sr. Accessibility Specialist\, Erin Metz\, and Equity\, Civil Rights\, and Title IX Assistant Director of HR and Operations\, Rachel Wiertella\, who will offer practical advice and strategic solutions to successfully address this complex area of performance management.
