Hear from current successful QMSS students who landed & completed data-related internships to learn about their recruitment\, application\, and interview processes\, their day-to-day work\, and the insights they gained from their organizations and industries. \n\nOur panelists will represent multiple majors at U-M and have various longer-term career interests. We are specifically highlighting students with internships that used data-related skills to help showcase the wide range of opportunities available to students that learn applied technical skills from courses like ours -- including from QMSS 201 alone!\n\nThere will be an opportunity to ask questions to specific students or the panel as a whole. DESCRIPTION:Join the Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences (QMSS) Program for a series dedicated to professional development for undergraduate students. These events are open to all students\, regardless of their affiliation with QMSS\, but specially designed for students in QMSS courses and the QMSS minor. Through these workshops\, seminars\, and events\, we hope to provide students with information and resources for navigating the internship & job hunt process\, skills for marketing themselves for those opportunities in application and electronic portfolio materials\, networking opportunities with professionals in data-related fields across the public and private sector\, and ultimately set individuals up to be among the most competitive applicants for opportunities relevant for QMSS skills.

DESCRIPTION:Do you find yourself worrying about what others think\, avoiding social situations\, or wishing you could feel more confident and comfortable in groups? You’re not alone. Our 8-week social anxiety group therapy offers a supportive space to build social skills\, overcome anxiety\, and connect with others facing similar challenges.\n\nWhat to Expect in Our Group Therapy:\n- Learn to identify and shift unhelpful thinking patterns\n- Build practical coping skills for social situations\n- Practice new strategies in a safe\, supportive\, and confidential environment\n\nDetails:\n- Who: Adults age 18+ experiencing social anxiety\, performance anxiety\, or seeking to gain confidence in social settings\n- When: Wednesdays\, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.\, October 1 – November 19\, 2025 (8 weeks)\n- Where: In-person at our conveniently located mental health clinic\, 210 S. 5th Ave.\, downtown Ann Arbor\n- Cost: $45 per session. Insurance may help cover costs\; please inquire for details.\n\nWhy Choose Group Therapy?\nGroup therapy for social anxiety provides unique benefits over individual counseling. In a group setting\, you’ll not only learn new skills but also practice them in real-time with support from peers.
