SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:NACADA Webinar: Deconstructing Burnout in Advising
DESCRIPTION:Join the ACUM Wellness Committee to watch and discuss the NACADA Webinar: Deconstructing Burnout in Advising. This will be an in person event hosted in the Honors Lounge - 1330 Mason Hall - on Wednesday\, October 21\, from 2pm EST - 3:20pm EST.This session will explore\, unpack\, and deconstruct burnout through perspectives and experiences of advisors from various geographic and institutional settings. Advising work may be close to our hearts\, but there’s a limit to how much space and energy one can give when passion\, a student focus\, and self-care are inadequate to prevent burnout. Framed by the 12 stages of burnout and the concept of emotional labor\, panelists will examine how higher education fosters certain types of burnout that impact advisors and the profession. Participants will be encouraged to consider their spheres of influence as advisors\, managers\, and colleagues as we seek to interrupt\, intervene\, and reframe burnout to address its root causes and learn how the profession can support advisors in this era of change.

SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:Student Number Theory: What are parahoric subgroups?
DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, we will motivate why the parahoric subgroups of a connected reductive group over a nonarchimedean local field are defined the way they are. We will of course supply several examples and say a few things about Bruhat--Tits buildings and integral models.

SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:From Passive Prompts to Active Agents: Transforming Campus Workflows with M-Connectors
DESCRIPTION:Move beyond static prompt-and-response AI. This hands-on workshop introduces M-Connectors—a Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration that connects U-M GPT directly to live campus systems\, external APIs\, and active data repositories. Discover how to transform GenAI into active agents capable of querying live data\, maintaining deep context\, and performing authorized tasks across tools like Canvas\, Google Workspace\, Slack\, and Zoom—all within U-M's secure enterprise privacy boundary.\n\nWhat You'll Learn\n\n--The MCP Advantage: How M-Connectors query live campus systems without custom code while preserving U-M enterprise data security.\n--Instructor Workflows: Automate Canvas readiness checks\, synthesize lecture transcripts into study guides\, generate 4-tier rubrics\, and draft personalized student reminders based on live gradebook data.\n--Administrative Workflows: Extract insights from Google Forms/Sheets\, summarize Zoom meetings and Slack threads into action items\, and query active Drive folders to draft communications.\n--The 15 Launch Connectors: Explore core connector capabilities across U-M GPT and Maizey to build your own custom productivity workflows.\n\nAudience: Students\, Instructors\, Staff\n\nRecommended Prerequisites:\nA or B:\nA. Introduction to GenAI: Unpacking Key Concepts (Mini Workshop)\nB. Generative AI Basics (Full Workshop)\nC or D:\nC. Critical Challenges in GenAI: Exploring Privacy\, Ethical Implications\, Integrity\, and Bias (Mini Workshop)\nD. Generative AI Basics (Full Workshop)\nE or F:\nE. From Basics to Brilliance: Prompt Engineering with U-M GPT (Mini Workshop)\nF. Generative AI with U-M GPT (Full Workshop)\n\nZoom join URL: https://umich.zoom.us/j/98888582214\n\nThis workshop is part of the new ITS Generative AI Mini-Workshop Series designed to offer a rich\, engaging experience in just 60 minutes per session.
