SUMMARY:Lecture / Discussion:ISBA Education Session #4: Recruiting Prep: Interviews\, Behaviorals\, & Casing Across Different Paths
DESCRIPTION:ISBA Education Session #4: Recruiting Prep: Interviews\, Behaviorals\, & Casing Across Different Paths\nOctober 9 | 4 PM | R2220\nInterview prep looks different depending on what you’re recruiting for. Technical rounds\, casing\, behaviorals\, each require different preparation. So what should you actually be working on for your path?\nIn our 4th ISBA Education series\, we’ll break down preparation across finance\, consulting\, marketing\, product and GM roles\, including technical and quantitative questions\, case interviews\, online assessments\, take-home assignments\, and behaviorals. We’ll discuss what each format asks of you\, how to structure your answers\, and how to make practice useful. You’ll hear from MBA2s about how they prepared for their specific roles\, which resources helped\, how they practiced with others\, and what they wish they’d started earlier.\n\nPanel:\n1. Akshat Kishore: Summer Associate - Strategy & Product\, Emergence Software Technologies\, Inc. (Financial Services)\n2. Anmol Chaudhri: MBA Summer Intern\, OC&C Strategy Consultants (Consulting)\n3. Kavin Senthil: Brand Marketing Intern\, Danone North America (Consumer Packaged Goods)\n4. Srinath Kausheeka: Technical Product Manager Intern\, eBay Inc. (Technology)\nCome with your questions and leave with a clearer sense of what to prioritize in Fall for your own recruiting path.

SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:Topology seminar: End Floer homology and Exotic R^4's
DESCRIPTION:Abstract: One way to construct an exotic R^4 is to remove a slice disk from the 4-ball\, replace it with a Casson handle\, and then delete the boundary. In the 90's De Michelis and Freedman asked how the choices in this construction affect the smooth type. Since then\, this problem has seen some progress but is still not well understood. Our main result is that if two slice knots have sufficiently different knot Floer homology\, then the resulting exotic R^4's made with the simplest Casson handle are distinct. This allows us to distinguish an explicit infinite family of exotic R^4's. Our main tool is Gadgil's end Floer homology\, which we compute effectively by analyzing Heegaard Floer cobordism maps. We also discuss new phenomena related to these R^4's\, and relevance to the open problem of finding infinitely many smooth structures on all noncompact 4 manifolds. This is joint work with Jen Hom\, Tye Lidman\, and Shunyu Wan.
