SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:Topology seminar: Invariants from real Heegaard Floer homology
DESCRIPTION:Abstract:  Introduced by Guth and Manolescu\, real Heegaard Floer homology is an invariant associated to 3-manifolds equipped with an involution. In this talk\, we will see how under certain assumptions\, the real Heegaard Floer homology groups admit an absolute Z/2 grading. We then specialize to double branched covers of links in S^3\, and the Euler characteristic in this case is the Heegaard Floer analogue of Miyazawa’s degree invariant. Once the signs are fixed\, we show that this quantity can be computed inductively using a skein relation. Furthermore\, we show that it can be expressed in terms of the Alexander polynomial of the link.

If still having issues\, click this link. \nFirst-Year Relationship and Sexuality Talk (FYRST) is a required\, in-person\, and peer-facilitated workshop that came directly from feedback and listening sessions with current University of Michigan students. Our goal is to create an accessible\, supportive space for student-driven conversations where all identities and experiences are welcomed and in which students can build skills and tools around identifying goals and values and then communicate effectively about those. Workshops will be offered at multiple locations and times throughout the fall semester\, so please sign up for the workshop that works for you!! First-Year Relationship Sexuality Talk (FYRST) FAQ:\n“How many workshops do I have to sign up for?”\nYou only need to sign up for 1 workshop. Attending 1 workshop will fulfill the requirement for the training. \n“I see that there is more than one session\, does it matter which one I sign up for?”\nIt generally does not matter which workshop you sign up for. There will be a few that are designated for specific groups such as transfer students or for students looking for accommodations. If you do not fit these groups please try to save these workshops for those that do and you are free to choose among any of the other workshops. \n“Is this workshop required?”\nThis workshop is required for all transfer and first-year students at the University of Michigan.\n“I’ve experienced harm around relationships or sexual experiences in the past and I am worried that attending this workshop may be harmful for me.” \nOur team is aware that students who are coming into the university that have experienced harm in the past. Our workshop is specifically designed to respect and validate the experiences of survivors and has been carefully constructed to avoid any specific descriptions of violence and focus instead on themes of empowerment\, communication\, and boundary setting. DESCRIPTION:The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra\, in partnership with U-M CHHASSEM\, SMTD\, and University Health & Counseling (UHC) is hosting a special presentation at Rackham Auditorium on Friday\, October 2\, at 5:30 p.m. \n\nCHHASSEM's co-director of Medicine and Arts Assistant Professor Daniel Whibley will lead a conversation with Vijay Gupta\, author\, classical violinist\, mental health advocate\, and founder of the Street Symphony\, inspired in part by the recent publication of Gupta's memoir \"Restrung.\" \n\nDaniel and Vijay will be joined in conversation by Dr. Lindsey Mortenson\, Executive Director of University Health and Counseling and the co-director of Michigan's Institute for Social Prescribing\, and Jen Erb-Downward\, MPH\, Director of Housing Stability Programs and Policy Initiatives at Poverty Solutions.\n\nNote that Gupta will also speak at the Penny Stamps Talk Series on Thursday at the Michigan Theater at 5:30.
