SUMMARY:Lecture / Discussion:HET Brown Bag Seminar | Quantum Many-body Bootstrap
DESCRIPTION:Determining the long-range phase of matter from its microscopic description has long been one of the central topics in physics. Simple microscopic systems often become strongly coupled at long range where we usually rely on clever approximations. Bootstrap is an alternative approach that uses positivity and equations of motion to make predictions in quantum many-body systems without making approximations. In this talk\, I will show my recent work on using bootstrap to compute the ground state energy\, local observables and gaps of a quantum many-body system in the thermodynamic limit with rigorous error bars.

As noted previously\, you must attended at least two HIA events in Winter 2024 to obtain one Sophomore Engagement Point. (Of course\, you are encouraged\, if so inclined\, to attend as many of the HIA events in Winter 2024 as you like.)\nThis event will be capped at 15 attendees\, per our Indie Bookstore participants' tours and visitations policies. We will meet at the Perlman Honors Commons at 1:50PM sharp. Please arrive promptly\, as we want to ensure sufficient time for each of the four stops we will be making. Register below to reserve your spot!\n
