DESCRIPTION:Thank you for your interest in the Residence Halls Association! What IS RHA?: The Residence Halls Association (RHA) is a student government made up of residents\, working to make life in the residence halls better for everyone. We do this through legislation\, event planning\, and advocacy.RHA is led by an Executive Board\, which runs our weekly Assembly meetings\, manages the budget\, supports committees\, and works closely with housing officials and other student organizations. Regionally\, RHA is supported by the Great Lakes Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (GLACURH) leadership and a community of like-minded individuals. We get similar support at a national level from the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH) and its affiliated members.The RHA Assembly is made up of representatives from affiliated residence halls\, who serve on committees focused on specific areas outlined in our Constitution. These representatives also act as liaisons between the Executive Board and the Hall Councils in each building. Hall Councils use their own funds to plan events and make improvements in their individual communities. They do this through adding new amenities\, organizing programs\, and enhancing the living environment.Though we aren't RAs\, we do offer benefits to students looking to return to Michigan Housing after 1 year of minimum engagement in Hall Council. If you are looking to apply to be an RA or DPE\, getting involved in RHA is a great way to hone your community-building skills and demonstrate that your leadership positively impacts your peer's student experience. Our Mission: To help create a campus where every University of Michigan student has a safe\, welcoming\, and comfortable place to live. By reducing the everyday stress of college life\, we aim to support a more productive and enjoyable college experience.Our Vision: To improve the residential experience at the University of Michigan through inclusive programming\, strong student representation\, and support for personal\, academic\, and financial well-being.\nWant to Know More? Keep in touch with us through our interest form. Hall Council elections will be held August 31st - September 11th at 11:59pm. We welcome ALL majors\, schools\, and interests - the only requirement is that you must be living in one of our affiliated undergraduate residence halls. Check your eligibility and run for Hall Council here!**Note: if you are not interested in one of our elected positions\, we welcome general members (non-voting\, low commitment - but still want to help & stay engaged) AND we have a formal process of adding additional positions to the council if desired. If you have a vision for better student life at Michigan\, you can make it happen through the Residence Halls Association!
