SUMMARY:Other:AI Clinic Lab: Building an AI Ecosystem From the Ground Up - The Internality Case Study
DESCRIPTION:Internality.org\, a nonprofit founded by Fred Keller of Cascade Engineering and Stuart Hart\, needed more than a chatbot. Over the past year\, we built a full AI system: a language model fine-tuned in Fred's voice\, research tools grounded in a curated library\, a private member community\, and the infrastructure underneath it all. This session walks through that build as a case study in working with AI tools: how we scoped each piece\, where model training fit and where it didn't\, how we handled security and access for real users\, and what it takes to deploy\, monitor\, and evaluate AI systems once people depend on them. Students will leave with a practical playbook for their own Clinic projects.\n\n\n\nSpeakr Bio\n\nChip LaFleur founded LaFleur Marketing in 2015 and is the owner and CEO of LaFleur One\, Inc. He previously served as CEO and majority shareholder of Orchard Insights\, a Chicago-based market research company\, and as General Manager of Pear Analytics. LaFleur serves clients in law\, healthcare\, technology\, and the nonprofit sector\, runs autonomous AI agents across its operations\, and builds AI systems for clients. For Internality.org\, Chip oversees development of an AI platform that includes a language model fine-tuned in the founder's voice\, self-hosted GPU inference\, a research tool grounded in a curated library\, a member community\, and the authentication\, monitoring\, and evaluation systems behind them. He is the author of Digital Marketing for Law Firms (Trial Guides\, 2020)\, serves on The Right Place Technology Council of West Michigan and the Grand Rapids Tech Week Growth Subcommittee\, and spoke in UMSI's Friday Speaker Series in 2025.
