SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:Twentieth Century Studies Roundtable: Multidisciplinary and/or Interdisciplinary?
DESCRIPTION:In today's academy\, what do we even mean by “interdisciplinary” and/or “multidisciplinary” in humanities research? How does a researcher know if they are practicing either mode\, or none\, or both? How do we justify these categories as methods of studying questions of the twentieth century in the contemporary academy? The Twentieth Century Studies RIW invites you to a roundtable on Thursday\, November 12\, 2026 at 1-2pm in Angell Hall 3241. The panel will consist of faculty and graduate students from English\, History\, DAAS\, among other departments\; each speaker will offer a 5-8 minutes flash talk on what inter- and multidisciplinary research means to their respective fields and work. \nLet us know if you would like to be added to our listserv! Contact Kabelo Sandile Motsoeneng (kmotsoen@umich.edu) and Maria Rossini (mrossini@umich.edu) for more information about the RIW. The Twentieth Century Studies Rackham Interdisciplinary Workshop is a new workshop this year\, and we plan to provide an opportunity for students studying the twentieth century to collaborate and learn from one another not only within our areas of study\, but also across departments.*Light refreshments will be provided.

SUMMARY:Livestream / Virtual:Inqueery in Precarity
DESCRIPTION:The Queer Campus Lab: Research and Practice for Queering and Trans*ing Higher Education is a biannual webinar hosted in collaboration between Spectrum Center and the Phillip J. Bowman Center for Scholarship to Practice. Each semester\, scholars and practitioners come together for critical conversations at the intersection of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and higher education scholarship\, research\, and praxis. \n\nFor Fall 2026\, we invite you to join us for \"Inqueery in Precarity\,” a discussion that centers on the experiences of faculty conducting research on gender\, sexuality\, and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and identities. As anti-DEI and anti-LGBTQ+ efforts reshape the landscape of higher education and the Academy\, esteemed faculty will reflect on what it means to carry out 2SLGBTQIA+ scholarship right now\, including the ways they care for their own and their community’s overall well-being. \n\nThis event is designed for faculty and staff engaged in scholarship and practice related to gender\, sexuality\, and 2SLGBTQIA+ identities\, higher education scholars and graduate students\, and anyone interested in queering and trans*ing higher education. More details will be released shortly\, including our list of esteemed panelists.\n\nThe Queer Campus Lab is presented by Spectrum Center and the Bowman Center for Scholarship to Practice and co-sponsored by the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals. \n\nRegistration is now open.
