SUMMARY:Recreational / Games:Turning Leaves Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Turning Leaves Retreat takes  place October 2-4\, 2026 near Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Together participants will explore scenic trails\, gather around evening campfires\, and enjoy the slower rhythms of outdoor living. Plan to help create a supportive community that encourages curiosity\, gratitude\, and connection. \n\nNo outdoor experience is necessary. This retreat is designed to remove barriers to participation while creating space for reflection\, relaxation\, and authentic community. Through gentle hikes\, camp-cooked meals\, journaling\, mindfulness activities\, and meaningful conversation\, you'll discover the restorative power of spending intentional time outdoors. Register by Tuesday\, September 22\, 2026 to secure your spot! Cost: $400\n\nThe program takes place October 2–4\, 2026. Participants will spend two nights tent camping near Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore before returning to the Adventure Leadership Resource Center located on Central Campus during the afternoon on Sunday\, October 4.\nThe program includes transportation\, meals during the weekend\, tent camping accommodations\, all group camping equipment\, guided activities\, and the opportunity to borrow personal camping gear — including a sleeping bag\, sleeping pad\, backpack\, and headlamp — at no additional cost. Personal clothing and toiletries are not included.

DESCRIPTION:Visit the Hatcher Gallery Exhibit Room to see historical materials that illustrate women’s changing relationship with food\, cooking\, and technology during the heady decade of the 1920s\, sandwiched between WWI and the Great Depression. This exhibit features materials from the Janice Bluestein Longone Culinary Archive\, as well as select items from the Art\, Architecture\, and Engineering Special Collections and the Transportation History Collection.\n\nAs America rang in a new decade in the 1920s\, cookbook authors and appliance manufacturers stood ready to offer the newly emancipated and forward-thinking American woman a vision for her future\, a vision that would be scientifically  grounded\, speedy enough to make time for leisure as well as housework\, and guaranteed to bring fun to that most humdrum of chores: planning and preparing meals for a family three times a day\, 365 days a year.

DESCRIPTION:\n\nOn October 3\, the U-M Stamps School of Art & Design will be holding our 2026 Undergraduate Preview Day in Ann Arbor. Prospective students and families will learn more about our programs and community\, take a tour\, meet our people\, participate in portfolio reviews\, get swag\, and more! Lunch will be provided.\n\nLocation\n\nThe Stamps School of Art & Design is located in the Art & Architecture Building (2000 Bonisteel Blvd\, Ann Arbor MI 48109-2069) on the University of Michigan’s North Campus.\n\nParking\n\nParking for visitors is available in U-M Parking lot NC-43 (2109 Fuller Rd\, Ann Arbor\, MI 48105)\, located directly behind the Art & Architecture building and accessible from Fuller Road. Permit parking is not enforced in this lot on weekends\, so Open House attendees are free to use any available Blue parking space free of charge.\n\nFrom this lot\, you’ll climb a large set of stairs to enter the building from the back entrance\, where you’ll be greeted by Stamps students and pink banners. Click here for a map of the building that shows where we’ll be meeting.\n\nAccessible Parking\n\nA small number of accessible parking spaces are available next to the Art & Architecture building. To reach the accessible parking area\, keep right directly after turning into the Art & Architecture lot from Fuller road\, then follow that right fork past the main lot and up to the building. Two hourly parking spaces open to all visitors\, along with two spaces reserved for vehicles with state-issued plates or tags\, are available on the east side of the building before you pass the entrances.\n\nAdditional parking is available in U-M Parking lot NC-27\, behind Stamps Auditorium on Murfin Rd. This lot is a short walk from the front entrances of our building\, and may be a good option for anyone who’d like to avoid navigating the stairs from the Art & Architecture lot. \n\nAgenda\n\nYou’ll learn about the application process\, engage in a Q&A session with Stamps staff and current students\, and tour our studio spaces. Prospective students who selected the portfolio review option during registration will receive an informal portfolio review from a member of our team. A light lunch will be provided. \n\nPlease stay home if you are sick — do not come to campus if you are ill.
