DESCRIPTION:Make meditation part of your goal to strengthen your mental well-being. Discover three core practices—meditation\, rejuvenation\, and inner connect in just three session.\n\nMeditation is a mindful journey for regulating your mind. It’s like a mental workout\, training the mind to focus on a single thought amid the 60\,000 that pass through daily. With 3 core practices it cultivates effortless concentration\, heightened awareness\, and presence in the moment\, allowing a shift from thinking to feeling. Meditation also leads to a deeper state of relaxation\, regulating the stress response and promoting numerous health benefits.\n\nThe session will be guided by a trainer via Zoom meeting for all 3 days from noon to 1 p.m. All U-M students\, faculty\, and staff are welcome to join at no cost. DESCRIPTION:MPSDS / JPSM Seminar Series\nMPSDS M3 Series: Mastery\, Methodology\, Meetups.\n\nOctober 7\, 2026\n12:00 - 1:00 pm ET\nInstitute for Social Research\, Room 1070\, and via Zoom.\n\nPartisan Nonresponse All the Way Down\nSurvey weighting and quota sampling assume that the respondents in a demographic cell represent the non-respondents in that cell. Using roughly two million online survey responses across three election cycles together with a same-time\, five-firm survey experiment fielded in Spring 2024\, we show this assumption does not hold: partisan non-response operates *within* demographic cells and below them. As a result\, demographic weighting cannot remove it\; only weighting on partisanship collapses topline variance to sampling error\, and even that leaves critical subgroup estimates biased.\n\nMarc Trussler is the Director of Data Science at the University of Pennsylvania’s Program on Opinion Research and Election Studies and a Senior Elections Analyst on the NBC News Decision Desk. He received his PhD from Vanderbilt University in 2019\, and has published work on polling methodology\, political behavior\, and the media.
