DESCRIPTION:Join the BLI for a fun\, low stakes practice networking event that will give you the opportunity to network within the BLI and help you feel better prepared for recruitment\, job/career fairs\, interviews\, and more. We’ll warm up with an Ice Breaker Bingo\, starting off with small talk interactions in order to make connections. We will practice networking in a free-roam networking event and write thank you notes to each other to ingrain the practice of following up with the people you meet. You never know who could be your next employer or team member. This event is also intended to help you network at our upcoming free Alumni Hockey game event\, hosted the following week. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a screening of Episode #101 of “50 States of Sustainability\,” a PBS series highlighting people and communities across the country who are developing practical solutions to environmental challenges. Episode #101 brings together three compelling stories: a solar farm that produces renewable energy and food through agrivoltaics\; the founder of the Rocky Mountain Institute reflecting on the critical role of energy efficiency\; and an 11-year-old beekeeper making the case for protecting bees and pollinators.\n\nFollowing the screening\, a diverse panel of University of Michigan faculty\, sustainability practitioners\, local leaders and representatives from “50 States of Sustainability” will explore the connections among clean energy\, agriculture\, land use\, energy efficiency and biodiversity.\n\nThis event is free and open to the public. DESCRIPTION:Discover the beauty and philosophy of traditional Korean painting (Hangukhwa) through an engaging demonstration. Jiyoung Kim will introduce the history\, materials\, and artistic principles of Korean painting\, explaining how natural materials such as ink\, brushes\, and traditional paper are used to express harmony with nature.\n\nParticipants will watch two live painting demonstrations—one featuring a traditional Korean painting and another focusing on a simple plum blossom composition that is easy to follow. The plum blossom is a meaningful symbol in Korean art\, representing resilience\, hope\, and the arrival of spring.\n\nJiyoung Kim is an award-winning artist and art instructor who studied painting at Hongik University\, where she is currently working on an MFA. Her work has been on display in many galleries in South Korea\, Los Angeles\, New York and in Michigan.\n\nThis event is part of Korea Week\, and is held in partnership with the Ann Arbor District Library and the Korean Cultural Center of Washington D.C.
