SUMMARY:Lecture / Discussion:Water@Michigan September Coffee Talk: Working at the Intersection of Climate\, Water\, and International Borders Across Multiple Forms of Knowledge
DESCRIPTION:The Global Center for Understanding Climate Change Impacts on Transboundary Waters (GCTW) is a multinational research-driven effort to strengthen understanding of how climate change will impact water resources that transcend traditional geopolitical boundaries. Our initial work focuses on convening leading scientists and practitioners from Canada\, the US\, and multiple Indigenous groups and sovereign nations in the co-production of knowledge and foundational data while blending Western science\, Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK)\, and Indigenous Knowledge (IK) to ultimately increase community resilience. Work is underway in the Great Lakes\, the Rio Grande\, and along other transboundary regions along the US-Canada border\, and is expected to expand across the North American continent\, and around the world.\n\nCoffee Talks provide a monthly opportunity during the academic year to network\, learn about pressing and emerging water-related issues\, hear about ongoing water-related research\, and meet new partners. In 2024/25\, Water@Michigan Coffee Talks will explore the water-climate nexus. \n\nFor more information about the fall series\, visit the Coffee Talks webpage: https://graham.umich.edu/wateratmichigan/coffee-talks
