DESCRIPTION:Graduate student Eva Albalghiti performs on the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Carillon\, an instrument of 60 bells with the lowest bell (bourdon) weighing 6 tons.\n\nThirty-minute recitals are performed on the Lurie Carillon every weekday that classes are in session. During these recitals\, visitors may take the elevator to level 2 to view the largest bells\, or to level 3 to see the carillonist performing. (Visitors subject to acrophobia are recommended to visit level 2 only.) An optional spiral stairway between levels 2 and 3 allows for up-close views of some of the largest bells.

DESCRIPTION:You're invited to the launch of the 2025 Hopwood Awards writing contests!\n\n- Listen to flash readings from a sample of 2024 Hopwood winners—fiction writers and poets\, graduates and undergraduates.\n- Learn more about the contests (as well as this year's updated rules and guidelines) from Hopwood Program Manager Rebecca Manery\n- Enjoy light refreshments\n\nSince 1931\, the Hopwood Awards Program has given almost 5\,000 awards to approximately 3\,300 writers\, for a total of $5\,936\,635 in prize winnings (and growing). The Hopwood Awards Program has been credited with launching many student writers' careers in the arts\, and in attracting already-talented writers to attend the University of Michigan. All University of Michigan students are invited and eligible!
