DESCRIPTION:Join us for an informal showing of *Happy Days Finale*\, a new performance work by Leyya Mona Tawil in collaboration with Zari Lionudakis (dance)\, John MacDoughall Parker (music)\, and Scott Tallenger (costume).\n\nWhat does happiness mean in a time of revolution? With each day anew\, what is our capacity for communion\, grief\, resistance\, chance? In a world of relentless injustice and collapse\, we question what is ending and what is beginning. DANCE ELIXIR's *Happy Days Finale* is an invitation to test these questions\, in body and time.\n\nAt the heart of *Happy Days Finale* is Tawil’s “choice-based choreography\,” where each performance unfolds uniquely. The dance composition is driven by decisions that transform the work into an ever-evolving conversation between movement\, space\, and sound. Tawil calls it “an act of agility and adaptability\,” - a dance that contains multiple truths with every iteration.\n\n*Happy Days Finale* is an invitation to think critically and collaboratively\, to explore how we\, as a community\, can face the challenges of today’s world. Please be aware that advance notice is necessary as some accommodations may require more time for the University to arrange.*\n\nBIOGRAPHIES\n\nLEYYA MONA TAWIL\, Conceptual Score\, Choreography\, and Performance\nDirector of DANCE ELIXIR\, Leyya Mona Tawil is an artist\, performer\, and cultural activist working in hybrid performance practices. Tawil is Palestinian and Syrian\; engaged in the world as such. Her choreographies and sound projects have been presented throughout the states\, Europe\, and the Arab world. Highlight engagements: “My Name is Palestine” exhibit at Southern Exposure (SF)\, performance commissions from Abrons Arts Center (NYC) and Sibelius Museum (Turku)\, and residencies with Sharjah Art Foundation (UAE)\, Wysing Arts/British Council (UK) and PlayHouse Labs (Detroit). Tawil was nominated for a 2019 “Bessies” Award in Music (NYC) and received the Ruth Arts Artist Choice Award 2026. She has stewarded TAC Temescal Art Center in Oakland since 1997\, and is the founding director of Arab.AMP - a platform for worldbuilding artists from the Arab/SWANA diaspora and our allied communities.\n\nZARI LIONUDAKIS\, Dance Collaborator and Performer\nZari Lionudakis is an artist and educator who challenges perceptions of either/or. A lone wolf in lineage\, heritage and praxis\, Zari's work in liminal space bleeds into her performance\, technique classes\, scholarship and healing modalities. The late historian Hayden White called Zari a \"radical visionary\,\" as every mode of Zari's work challenges existing notions of what \"is.\" Whether ballet or vernacular\, slang or scholarship\, Zari uses languages that work towards liberation. She has performed extensively with DANCE ELIXIR since its founding in 2003.\n\nJOHN MACDOUGALL PARKER\, Music Collaborator and Performer\nJohn MacDougall Parker creates improvisational future-folk compositions where sound is amalgamated and congealed into a resolution of crossed signals. He has devised instruments focused on the interface between humans and machines\, which are arranged to make music in the moment. Parker\, of American and Korean origin\, floats between NYC and São Paulo.\n\nSCOTT TALLENGER\, Costumes\nScott Tallenger is a Left-Handed/Right Brained\, photographer\, skateboarder and fashion designer. Based in Detroit and working nationally\, Scott specializes in one-of-a-kind event garments and accessories.  His first costume collaboration with performer Leyya Mona Tawil was in 2006\, and he has since created over 11 unique costumes for DANCE ELIXIR.

SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:Quantitative propagation of chaos and universality for asymmetric Langevin spin glass dynamics
DESCRIPTION:We obtain quantitative estimates on quenched propagation of chaos for Langevin spin glass dynamics with i.i.d. disorder. Prior work in the case of Gaussian disorder established the qualitative convergence of the law of a single spin to a deterministic McKean--Vlasov limit. We prove convergence rates in expected Wasserstein distance and quantitative concentration rates for Lipschitz observables under the assumption that the disorder satisfies the T_2 inequality. The proof uses a coupling argument\, together with techniques from concentration of measure\, filtering theory\, and Malliavin calculus.

SUMMARY:Workshop / Seminar:SAPAC GROWE: Engendering Respectful Communities Workshops - SY26 - 27
DESCRIPTION:Engendering Respectful Communities (ERC) is a one session workshop that engages graduate students in meaningful dialogue about various forms of sexual misconduct they may encounter in both professional and social spaces\, and provides resources for intervention or support in such circumstances.The primary goal of the workshop is to address complexities experienced by graduate students as they engage in bystander intervention\, so that participants gain an increase in awareness of barriers to action and familiarity with strategic planning to overcome them. The workshop also introduces participants to on-campus resources and provides knowledge on how sexual misconduct can unfold in graduate-specific settings.The ERC workshop uses small-group circles intended to promote active reflection and space to build community. The procedure of circles is introduced at the beginning of the workshop in order to help participants get used to the process\, which they do through a circle for introductions and value-sharing for the workshop space. These circles depict various\, realistic scenarios related to sexual misconduct within the graduate community. The circle process allows circle members to process the monologues\, reflect on complexities with identity and power dynamics within them\, name potential barriers to intervention\, and think of various ways in which they might respond if faced with similar situations. The circles provide a way to foster collective building of ideas\, where participants learn from one another and all input is equally valued. Participants are encouraged to share but can always pass if desired\, creating an environment where participation is open but not forced. Due to the participatory nature of the workshop\, if you are to arrive more than 20 minutes late\, we will ask you to re-register for another workshop session.If you have any questions about or concerns with taking this workshop\, or are in need of an exemption\, please contact jhippe@umich.edu or fill out this form. We know some students come to campus having already experienced harm. If you have circumstances that make completing this course challenging\, please reach out to the GROWE team. SAPAC GROWE provides exemptions to the ERC workshop (where requirements are set in place) on a case by case basis. The Program Manager will communicate with students requesting exemptions via email and/or meet with students via zoom meetings to discuss their need for exemptions and provide any relevant and necessary resources.
