SUMMARY:Exhibition:Muted Volumes: Book-Objects\, Patterned Papers\, and the Closed Stacks of Buhr
DESCRIPTION:This exhibit in the Clark Library rotunda focuses on handmade decorative patterned papers when exploring books stored at the library's Buhr Offsite Shelving Facility. Decorative paper\, noticed when walking through the stack's aisles or surprising you when you casually flip through a book\, can really catch your eye. But because the Buhr stacks are closed from browsing\, the density and dimensionality of its nearly 3 million books are reduced to title searches on a screen.\n\nAs a response to these reflections\, artist and library staff member Stephanie Osorio shares her handbound unopenable book-objects as symbolic stand-ins for forgotten books at Buhr — the books that don’t get a chance to be noticed. Along with the book-objects are the carved woodblocks that made prints to decorate them. Some books from Buhr that inspired this project with their original decorated patterned papers will also be on display.\n\nView the exhibit anytime the Hatcher Library is open\, and join us for an opening reception on Thursday\, May 14th\, 5pm - 6:30pm\, for an opportunity to hear from the artist and engage with the book-objects.

DESCRIPTION:“While the band tends to describe its sound as Southwestern rock ’n’ roll\, you’ll also hear influences of Tejano and Conjunto\, the Pogues\, the British Invasion\, and even New Age — capturing the breadth of music in the Lone Star State.” \n–Texas Music\n\nFeaturing five musicians who grew up in El Paso\, Lubbock and Amarillo\, the West Texas Exiles draw upon the wide-open western reaches of the Lone Star State with a wide-ranging\, Americana-centered sound. Rising from the embers of the Dirty River Boys\, which Marco Gutierrez co-founded in 2009\, the Austin band features a triple-threat of songwriters in Gutierrez\, Daniel Davis and Colin Gilmore (son of legendary Texas troubadour Jimmie Dale Gilmore)\, plus seasoned bassist Eric Harrison and latter-day Dirty River Boys drummer Trinidad Leal. The Exiles' 2023 debut EP paved the way for their first full-length album\, 8000 Days\, due out later this year. The recordings build upon the live chops the group has honed through a weekly residency at Austin’s legendary Continental Club plus gigs at key local events such as SXSW and Willie Nelson’s Luck Reunion\, as well as high-profile touring appearances at Nashville’s Americanafest\, Braun Brothers Reunion and San Francisco’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival.

DESCRIPTION:As the Medical School celebrates the anniversary of its opening in the fall of 1850\, and Michigan Medicine marks the 100th anniversary of the opening of the \"Old Main\" University Hospital that served as its flagship from 1925 to 1986\, a free museum exhibit explores 175 years of medical education\, research and clinical care. \n\nOpen to the public at the Museum on Main Street operated by the Washtenaw County Historical Society\, the exhibit includes artifacts\, photos and facts about how U-M's medical community grew from humble beginnings on the Diag to become one of the nation's largest and most respected academic medical centers. It also asks visitors to ponder their own attitudes and experiences\, and to submit memories and photos of their time working\, studying\, volunteering or receiving care at U-M's medical campus and beyond. That belief was itself a form of resistance—to disciplinary silos\, to marginalization\, to the idea that such scholarship was peripheral.\n\nThis theme reminds us that resistance is not merely reactive\; it is constructive. When rooted in collaboration and sustained through infrastructure\, it produces knowledge that reshapes disciplines\, institutions\, and public life.\n\nThis exhibit celebrates 30 years of IRWG—its history\, its programs\, and the people whose vision and labor built it into what it is today. SUMMARY:Exhibition:Up\, Up\, And Away: A History of Ballooning in America
DESCRIPTION:This exhibit examines the history of balloon flight in the United States from Blanchard’s first ascension to the early twentieth century. In the age of bird’s-eye views\, which imagined a perspective on American cities and towns from high in the air\, balloonists were the only people who actually had the opportunity to see what the growing nation looked like from above. As the nineteenth century progressed\, ballooning became a lucrative (if dangerous) business\, as crowds gathered to watch balloons launch\, and to see aeronauts risk their lives high in the air. Over time\, the image of the hot air balloon proliferated in American print culture\, being used to sell goods ranging from thread to canned beef. DESCRIPTION:This exhibit in the Clark Library rotunda focuses on handmade decorative patterned papers when exploring books stored at the library's Buhr Offsite Shelving Facility. Decorative paper\, noticed when walking through the stack's aisles or surprising you when you casually flip through a book\, can really catch your eye. But because the Buhr stacks are closed from browsing\, the density and dimensionality of its nearly 3 million books are reduced to title searches on a screen.\n\nAs a response to these reflections\, artist and library staff member Stephanie Osorio shares her handbound unopenable book-objects as symbolic stand-ins for forgotten books at Buhr — the books that don’t get a chance to be noticed. Along with the book-objects are the carved woodblocks that made prints to decorate them. Some books from Buhr that inspired this project with their original decorated patterned papers will also be on display.\n\nView the exhibit anytime the Hatcher Library is open\, and join us for an opening reception on Thursday\, May 14th\, 5pm - 6:30pm\, for an opportunity to hear from the artist and engage with the book-objects.

DESCRIPTION:This exhibit examines the history of balloon flight in the United States from Blanchard’s first ascension to the early twentieth century. In the age of bird’s-eye views\, which imagined a perspective on American cities and towns from high in the air\, balloonists were the only people who actually had the opportunity to see what the growing nation looked like from above. As the nineteenth century progressed\, ballooning became a lucrative (if dangerous) business\, as crowds gathered to watch balloons launch\, and to see aeronauts risk their lives high in the air. Over time\, the image of the hot air balloon proliferated in American print culture\, being used to sell goods ranging from thread to canned beef. We hope that this exhibit conveys some of the thrill that would have come from seeing people fly for the first time.\n\nOn view May 22-August 28\, weekdays from 12-4 pm.

Do you dread others evaluating your work or avoid opportunities for critical feedback? Do you have trouble accepting praise or acknowledging your accomplishments? Do you worry about being exposed as an academic fraud? Have you ever questioned whether you belong at Michigan? Thoughts such as these are hallmarks of impostor thinking and are more common among graduate students than you realize. However\, they don't have to overshadow your academic and professional journey.Join us for this interactive workshop\, during which we will share insights from impostorism scholarship and provide research-based strategies for combating your impostor thoughts and feelings.By the end of this workshop\, you will be able to:Define impostorism and highlight the variety of ways individuals and groups are most impacted.Discuss individual\, system\, and institution level factors that contribute to impostorism.Recognize maladaptive thought patterns and coping strategies that exacerbate impostor experiences.Access tools and strategies to help interrupt your impostor cycle (all participants will receive a digital strategies workbook).This workshop is intended for Master's students. SUMMARY:Exhibition:Up\, Up\, And Away: A History of Ballooning in America
DESCRIPTION:This exhibit examines the history of balloon flight in the United States from Blanchard’s first ascension to the early twentieth century. In the age of bird’s-eye views\, which imagined a perspective on American cities and towns from high in the air\, balloonists were the only people who actually had the opportunity to see what the growing nation looked like from above. As the nineteenth century progressed\, ballooning became a lucrative (if dangerous) business\, as crowds gathered to watch balloons launch\, and to see aeronauts risk their lives high in the air. Over time\, the image of the hot air balloon proliferated in American print culture\, being used to sell goods ranging from thread to canned beef. We hope that this exhibit conveys some of the thrill that would have come from seeing people fly for the first time.\n\nOn view May 22-August 28\, weekdays from 12-4 pm.

SUMMARY:Exhibition:Muted Volumes: Book-Objects\, Patterned Papers\, and the Closed Stacks of Buhr
DESCRIPTION:This exhibit in the Clark Library rotunda focuses on handmade decorative patterned papers when exploring books stored at the library's Buhr Offsite Shelving Facility. Decorative paper\, noticed when walking through the stack's aisles or surprising you when you casually flip through a book\, can really catch your eye. But because the Buhr stacks are closed from browsing\, the density and dimensionality of its nearly 3 million books are reduced to title searches on a screen.\n\nAs a response to these reflections\, artist and library staff member Stephanie Osorio shares her handbound unopenable book-objects as symbolic stand-ins for forgotten books at Buhr — the books that don’t get a chance to be noticed. Along with the book-objects are the carved woodblocks that made prints to decorate them. Some books from Buhr that inspired this project with their original decorated patterned papers will also be on display.\n\nView the exhibit anytime the Hatcher Library is open\, and join us for an opening reception on Thursday\, May 14th\, 5pm - 6:30pm\, for an opportunity to hear from the artist and engage with the book-objects.

When rooted in collaboration and sustained through infrastructure\, it produces knowledge that reshapes disciplines\, institutions\, and public life.\n\nThis exhibit celebrates 30 years of IRWG—its history\, its programs\, and the people whose vision and labor built it into what it is today. When rooted in collaboration and sustained through infrastructure\, it produces knowledge that reshapes disciplines\, institutions\, and public life.\n\nThis exhibit celebrates 30 years of IRWG—its history\, its programs\, and the people whose vision and labor built it into what it is today. SUMMARY:Exhibition:Up\, Up\, And Away: A History of Ballooning in America
DESCRIPTION:This exhibit examines the history of balloon flight in the United States from Blanchard’s first ascension to the early twentieth century. In the age of bird’s-eye views\, which imagined a perspective on American cities and towns from high in the air\, balloonists were the only people who actually had the opportunity to see what the growing nation looked like from above. As the nineteenth century progressed\, ballooning became a lucrative (if dangerous) business\, as crowds gathered to watch balloons launch\, and to see aeronauts risk their lives high in the air. Over time\, the image of the hot air balloon proliferated in American print culture\, being used to sell goods ranging from thread to canned beef. We hope that this exhibit conveys some of the thrill that would have come from seeing people fly for the first time.\n\nOn view May 22-August 28\, weekdays from 12-4 pm.

DESCRIPTION:This exhibit in the Clark Library rotunda focuses on handmade decorative patterned papers when exploring books stored at the library's Buhr Offsite Shelving Facility. Decorative paper\, noticed when walking through the stack's aisles or surprising you when you casually flip through a book\, can really catch your eye. But because the Buhr stacks are closed from browsing\, the density and dimensionality of its nearly 3 million books are reduced to title searches on a screen.\n\nAs a response to these reflections\, artist and library staff member Stephanie Osorio shares her handbound unopenable book-objects as symbolic stand-ins for forgotten books at Buhr — the books that don’t get a chance to be noticed. Along with the book-objects are the carved woodblocks that made prints to decorate them. Some books from Buhr that inspired this project with their original decorated patterned papers will also be on display.\n\nView the exhibit anytime the Hatcher Library is open\, and join us for an opening reception on Thursday\, May 14th\, 5pm - 6:30pm\, for an opportunity to hear from the artist and engage with the book-objects.

DESCRIPTION:Rodney Crowell is the songwriter’s songwriter and an icon among giants. Native Texan\, Crowell is a multi-Grammy Award-winning troubadour with fifteen number one hits. Over the course of his career\, Crowell has gracefully blended his own mainstream success as an artist with a prolific catalog of songs cut by the likes of Emmylou Harris\, Johnny Cash\, Waylon Jennings\, Keith Urban and more\, making him a master among his peers. \n\nWith more than 40 years of American roots music under his belt\, Crowell has also been cited as the architect of Americana music\, extending his genre reach\, but owing to the distinctly universal\, literary quality of his writing\, he has also penned beloved songs for artists as diverse as Bob Seger\, Etta James\, the Grateful Dead\, John Denver\, Jimmy Buffett and countless others.\n\nA member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame\, Crowell is also the author of the acclaimed memoir\, Chinaberry Sidewalks\, and teamed up with New York Times best-selling author Mary Karr for Kin: Songs by Mary Karr & Rodney Crowell in 2012\, with Karr saying of her collaborator\, “Like Hank Williams or Townes Van Zandt or Miss Lucinda\, he writes and croons with a poet’s economy and a well digger’s deep heart.” Crowell was honored with ASCAP’s prestigious Founder’s Award in 2017\, and that same year released the album Close Ties\, which spawned another Grammy nomination for “It Ain’t Over Yet” with Rosanne Cash and John Paul White in the category of Best Americana Song. 2019’s Texas was a collection of Lone Star-centric collaborations with Ringo Starr\, Willie Nelson\, Ronnie Dunn\, Steve Earle and more\, and Crowell’s most recent album release is the 2021 set\, Triage. \n\nCrowell came up in Nashville’s songwriting heyday alongside Guy Clark\, Townes Van Zandt\, and Steve Earle and has continued that legacy of camaraderie and kinship with his peers well into the iconic era of his career. As many say - “your favorite song was probably written by Rodney Crowell.” Crowell has four daughters and lives with his wife and dog in Tennessee. The institute was established because faculty members believed that research on women\, gender\, and sexuality required an institutional commitment to thrive. That belief was itself a form of resistance—to disciplinary silos\, to marginalization\, to the idea that such scholarship was peripheral.\n\nThis theme reminds us that resistance is not merely reactive\; it is constructive. When rooted in collaboration and sustained through infrastructure\, it produces knowledge that reshapes disciplines\, institutions\, and public life.\n\nThis exhibit celebrates 30 years of IRWG—its history\, its programs\, and the people whose vision and labor built it into what it is today. SUMMARY:Exhibition:Up\, Up\, And Away: A History of Ballooning in America
DESCRIPTION:This exhibit examines the history of balloon flight in the United States from Blanchard’s first ascension to the early twentieth century. In the age of bird’s-eye views\, which imagined a perspective on American cities and towns from high in the air\, balloonists were the only people who actually had the opportunity to see what the growing nation looked like from above. As the nineteenth century progressed\, ballooning became a lucrative (if dangerous) business\, as crowds gathered to watch balloons launch\, and to see aeronauts risk their lives high in the air. Over time\, the image of the hot air balloon proliferated in American print culture\, being used to sell goods ranging from thread to canned beef. We hope that this exhibit conveys some of the thrill that would have come from seeing people fly for the first time.\n\nOn view May 22-August 28\, weekdays from 12-4 pm.

SUMMARY:Exhibition:Muted Volumes: Book-Objects\, Patterned Papers\, and the Closed Stacks of Buhr
DESCRIPTION:This exhibit in the Clark Library rotunda focuses on handmade decorative patterned papers when exploring books stored at the library's Buhr Offsite Shelving Facility. Decorative paper\, noticed when walking through the stack's aisles or surprising you when you casually flip through a book\, can really catch your eye. But because the Buhr stacks are closed from browsing\, the density and dimensionality of its nearly 3 million books are reduced to title searches on a screen.\n\nAs a response to these reflections\, artist and library staff member Stephanie Osorio shares her handbound unopenable book-objects as symbolic stand-ins for forgotten books at Buhr — the books that don’t get a chance to be noticed. Along with the book-objects are the carved woodblocks that made prints to decorate them. Some books from Buhr that inspired this project with their original decorated patterned papers will also be on display.\n\nView the exhibit anytime the Hatcher Library is open\, and join us for an opening reception on Thursday\, May 14th\, 5pm - 6:30pm\, for an opportunity to hear from the artist and engage with the book-objects.

SUMMARY:Exhibition:Up\, Up\, And Away: A History of Ballooning in America
DESCRIPTION:This exhibit examines the history of balloon flight in the United States from Blanchard’s first ascension to the early twentieth century. In the age of bird’s-eye views\, which imagined a perspective on American cities and towns from high in the air\, balloonists were the only people who actually had the opportunity to see what the growing nation looked like from above. As the nineteenth century progressed\, ballooning became a lucrative (if dangerous) business\, as crowds gathered to watch balloons launch\, and to see aeronauts risk their lives high in the air. Over time\, the image of the hot air balloon proliferated in American print culture\, being used to sell goods ranging from thread to canned beef. We hope that this exhibit conveys some of the thrill that would have come from seeing people fly for the first time.\n\nOn view May 22-August 28\, weekdays from 12-4 pm.

SUMMARY:Exhibition:Muted Volumes: Book-Objects\, Patterned Papers\, and the Closed Stacks of Buhr
DESCRIPTION:This exhibit in the Clark Library rotunda focuses on handmade decorative patterned papers when exploring books stored at the library's Buhr Offsite Shelving Facility. Decorative paper\, noticed when walking through the stack's aisles or surprising you when you casually flip through a book\, can really catch your eye. But because the Buhr stacks are closed from browsing\, the density and dimensionality of its nearly 3 million books are reduced to title searches on a screen.\n\nAs a response to these reflections\, artist and library staff member Stephanie Osorio shares her handbound unopenable book-objects as symbolic stand-ins for forgotten books at Buhr — the books that don’t get a chance to be noticed. Along with the book-objects are the carved woodblocks that made prints to decorate them. Some books from Buhr that inspired this project with their original decorated patterned papers will also be on display.\n\nView the exhibit anytime the Hatcher Library is open\, and join us for an opening reception on Thursday\, May 14th\, 5pm - 6:30pm\, for an opportunity to hear from the artist and engage with the book-objects.

When rooted in collaboration and sustained through infrastructure\, it produces knowledge that reshapes disciplines\, institutions\, and public life.\n\nThis exhibit celebrates 30 years of IRWG—its history\, its programs\, and the people whose vision and labor built it into what it is today. The Capps’ sound meets at the intersection of Americana & Folk drawing on rock\, jazz\, blues and bluegrass influences. What comes out is a hybrid sound all their own.  Genuine and playful\; effortless and endearing\; this duo\, along with bandmates\, Jason Dennie and Ozzie Andrews\, has been sharing their music with happy audiences in quality music venues\, house concerts\, coffeehouses and festivals throughout their home state of Michigan and beyond.\n\nTonight’s show celebrates the release of Annie and Rod’s album\, Never Done. The 10th album from Michigan rockers turned ‘folkies’ features 10 original songs that combine themes of nostalgia and personal growth\, with plenty of heart-felt realness\, charming self-awareness\, and a dusting of humor. “Never Done” reflects the Capps’ hope that maybe we really do get better with age as long as we keep working\, learning and evolving.

In the age of bird’s-eye views\, which imagined a perspective on American cities and towns from high in the air\, balloonists were the only people who actually had the opportunity to see what the growing nation looked like from above. As the nineteenth century progressed\, ballooning became a lucrative (if dangerous) business\, as crowds gathered to watch balloons launch\, and to see aeronauts risk their lives high in the air. Over time\, the image of the hot air balloon proliferated in American print culture\, being used to sell goods ranging from thread to canned beef. We hope that this exhibit conveys some of the thrill that would have come from seeing people fly for the first time.\n\nOn view May 22-August 28\, weekdays from 12-4 pm.

DESCRIPTION:This exhibit in the Clark Library rotunda focuses on handmade decorative patterned papers when exploring books stored at the library's Buhr Offsite Shelving Facility. Decorative paper\, noticed when walking through the stack's aisles or surprising you when you casually flip through a book\, can really catch your eye. But because the Buhr stacks are closed from browsing\, the density and dimensionality of its nearly 3 million books are reduced to title searches on a screen.\n\nAs a response to these reflections\, artist and library staff member Stephanie Osorio shares her handbound unopenable book-objects as symbolic stand-ins for forgotten books at Buhr — the books that don’t get a chance to be noticed. Along with the book-objects are the carved woodblocks that made prints to decorate them. Some books from Buhr that inspired this project with their original decorated patterned papers will also be on display.\n\nView the exhibit anytime the Hatcher Library is open\, and join us for an opening reception on Thursday\, May 14th\, 5pm - 6:30pm\, for an opportunity to hear from the artist and engage with the book-objects.

This is a sisterhood born out of a shared passion for keeping the tradition of Irish music alive\, giving it a new look and keeping it on its toes. When they’re performing together\, a magic flows between them\, and that mix of skill and sorcery make them incomparable.\n\nAfter appearing on the Late Late Show in February 2025 BIIRD went on to sell out every show on their debut Irish & UK tour\, including their upgraded show at Vicar St... all before even releasing any music. DESCRIPTION:Heartfulness Guided Meditation is a weekly\, drop-in program designed to help you Mental well-being. \n\nAll U-M students\, faculty\, and staff are welcome to participate in guided meditation practice with a trainer every Friday at noon over Zoom (details to join are provided below). No prior experience with meditation is required. \n\n*What will you learn?*\n\nThe guided meditation practice involves three simple steps: relaxation\, rejuvenation\, and meditation.\n\nRelaxation brings your body to a calm\, steady posture creating a stillness at the physical level\, and prepares the mind for meditation. DESCRIPTION:Monday\, September 14\, 2026\n11:00am - 12:00pm\nLocation TBD\n\nYang Shi\, PhD\nProfessor of Epigenetics\nLudwig Institute for Cancer Research\nOxford University\, Oxford\, England\n“Seminar Title TBD”\n\nHosted By: Shigeki Iwase\, PhD\, Department of Human Genetics\n___\nBefore joining Ludwig Oxford in 2020\, I was Professor of Cell Biology and C. H. Waddington Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. I received my PhD from New York University and postdoctoral training at Princeton University. I joined Harvard Medical School as an Assistant Professor in 1991 and was appointed a Professor of Pathology in 2004. In 2009 I joined the Newborn Medicine Division of Boston Children’s Hospital.\n\nI am interested in identifying key epigenetic regulators in cancer\, elucidating their mechanism of action and providing the conceptual basis for translating our basic findings to the clinic via the development of new therapeutic strategies. With the discovery of the first histone methyl eraser\, LSD1\, in 2004\, our group demonstrated that histone methylation is dynamically regulated\, which overturned the long-held dogma that such modifications were static and irreversible. We have also discovered many additional histone demethylases with different specificities\, and novel readers\, including those that specifically recognize unmodified lysine and arginine and suggest that the unmodified states are not simply a ground neutral state of epigenetic information but rather likely code for epigenetic information as modified states. Importantly\, many of these chromatin enzymes and readers have since been implicated in various types of human cancers\, indicating an important role of chromatin regulation in tumorigenesis.\n\nMore recently\, we have also been studying RNA modifications and how they impact gene expression regulation. In many ways this exciting field parallels the early days of chromatin biochemistry and biology\, i.e.\, the nature and the biological and pathological functions of RNA modifications\, as well as the enzymes responsible for writing\, erasing and reading them\, are just beginning to be understood.\n\nAt Ludwig Oxford\, my lab is focusing on two questions. First\, how to convert “cold tumors to “hot” and how to sustain durable responses to cancer immune checkpoint blockade therapy. Second\, how to induce therapeutic differentiation of cancers\, using acute myeloid leukemia and diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma as models where chromatin/epigenetics have been shown to play a crucial role in the maintenance of a poorly differentiated state.

DESCRIPTION:Details forthcoming\n\nAbout the speaker:\nAndrew James Hartley is Emeritus professor in UNC Charlotte’s Department of Theatre in which he served as the Russell Robinson Distinguished Professor of Shakespeare studies for 18 years\, specializing in performance theory and practice. In addition to working as a dramaturg and director\, he is the author of various scholarly books including The Shakespearean Dramaturg\, Shakespeare and Political Theatre\, a performance history of Julius Caesar\, essay collections on Shakespeare on the University stage\, Shakespeare in Millennial fiction\, and (with Peter Holland) Shakespeare and Geek Culture. He is the author of numerous articles and book chapters on staging Renaissance drama. He was the editor of the performance journal Shakespeare Bulletin for Johns Hopkins UP for a decade\, was resident dramaturg for Georgia Shakespeare\, and is an honorary fellow of the University of Central Lancashire\, UK. Dr. Hartley is currently editing Julius Caesar for the Arden 4th series. In addition to teaching Shakespeare related classes\, he also taught creative writing courses for the English department. Under the pen names AJ Hartley and Andrew Hart he is the award winning\, New York Times bestselling author of 27 novels in a variety of genres\, including several books co-written with Tom DeLonge of Blink-182. Several of his books are currently in development for television and film\, and some have appeared in numerous languages overseas. DESCRIPTION:The Gothard Sisters are three sisters Greta\, Willow and Solana. They are contemporary Celtic folk multi-instrumentalists\, composers\, performers and songwriters. Blending Celtic\, folk\, world\, classical and new age musical influences\, the Gothard Sisters bring songs to life with violin\, acoustic guitar\, mandolin\, bodhran\, djembe\, whistle and vocal harmonies\, creating music that is “vivid\, inspirational and captivating.” (Tim Carroll\, Folk Words Review 2018)\n\nRaised and homeschooled by artists in the Pacific Northwest\, the Gothard Sisters grew up immersed in nature\, imaginative play and traditional folk and classical music. Their music takes inspiration from folk music traditions around the world\, timeless stories\, new age and classical records\, and nature itself. Writing and recording near their home in the Pacific Northwest\, USA\, the band has released 11 albums and performed over 2\,000 live shows over the course of their career.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrating 35 years\n\nFor 35 years\, California Guitar Trio (CGT) has redefined what a small ensemble can achieve on one stage. Since forming in 1991\, the group has captivated audiences with a singular sound that fearlessly crisscrosses genres — blending rock\, jazz\, classical\, and global influences\, with the occasional surf or spaghetti Western twist for good measure.\n\nFounded by Paul Richards\, Bert Lams\, and Hideyo Moriya\, CGT emerged from the creative lineage of guitarist Robert Fripp and quickly built a reputation for precision\, interplay\, and adventurous musical exploration. Today\, the trio continues its evolution with Paul Richards\, Bert Lams\, and Chapman Stick player Tom Griesgraber\, who joined the group in 2020. No prior experience with meditation is required. \n\n*What will you learn?*\n\nThe guided meditation practice involves three simple steps: relaxation\, rejuvenation\, and meditation.\n\nRelaxation brings your body to a calm\, steady posture creating a stillness at the physical level\, and prepares the mind for meditation. DESCRIPTION:Hailing from Kennett\, Missouri\, David Nail is well-respected up and down Music Row. Some might even call him a “tour de force” as his songs pull no punches in evoking the demons with which he has wrestled through much of his life. \n\nThe GRAMMY-nominated multi-platinum singer/songwriter’s early releases\, I’m About To Come Alive\, The Sound Of A Million Dreams\, I’m A Fire and Fighter\, ignited his reputation as an innovator and creative risk-taker yet left Nail feeling restless. This led to the departure of the only record company home he’d ever known\, MCA Nashville\, where he’d formed friendships that endure even now. Through dealing with his own journey of mental health and the feeling of needing to “rebel against what people expect you to be\,” Nail began making his most “organic” work to date\, David Nail & The Well Ravens\, with Jason Hall and Andrew Petroff. That project liberated Nail and propelled him into his next adventure. Writing solo for the next few months led to his debut solo independent EP Oh\, Mother\, a reflective piece of work. Of the title track\, Rolling Stone noted that “the song creeps in like a sunrise — quiet\, restrained cello and keys are the only underpinning for Nail’s powerful vocals at first. But then it slowly builds to something more massive and majestic.” That release was followed by Bootheel 2020 and Bootheel 2021\, projects dedicated to the singer/songwriter’s hometown in the “bootheel” of Missouri. Nail released an EP titled Best of Me in 2023 and the title track has seen heavy press support and country radio airplay. 2024 brought more touring than ever\, two great single releases “If I Could Call” and “Why” featuring Aubrie Sellers. \n\nNail plans on releasing the start of an excitingly different and elevated album project this year leaving behind any self-imposed restrictions. In Nail’s own words\, “My philosophy has always been\, I just hope to have a good enough year that I can have a next year while staying as true to myself as I possibly can.”
