SUMMARY:Performance:Cris Williamson
DESCRIPTION:A celebration in honor of The Changer and The Changed\n\nCris Williamson returns to the Ark for a celebration and special 50th Anniversary solo presentation of the beloved Changer and the Changed\, the album that became the soundtrack of a movement. \n\n\"The Changer” as it is often called\, is a seminal album in feminist music history. Released in 1975 on Olivia Records\, an all-women recording company\, the album is considered a cornerstone of women's music. NPR's Music Critic Ann Powers has praised the album as a work that explores themes of loss\, grief\, and renewal\, suggesting it's a portal that allows listeners to travel through time and return refreshed. The album's impact is significant\, with Powers and others highlighting its enduring influence on the folk\, pop\, and feminist music movements. \n \n\"Even though it’s over 50 years old\, The Changer and the Changed seems to still hold water\, and continue to refresh those who find it. I’m honored to claim it\, and thrilled to perform it. What a joy to play these old songs. It feels new every time!” - Cris\n\nCome join Cris in celebration\, and bring your memories.

SUMMARY:Performance:Vienna Teng with special guest Alex Wong
DESCRIPTION:New music!\n\nSongwriter Vienna Teng re-emerges this fall with her mashup song pair We’ve Got You - her first new music in over a decade - but her fans have been here the whole time. They’ve packed concert venues even in years between releases\, crowdfunded an ambitious music video in hours\, and joined by the hundreds when she launched her “music x climate action” Patreon in 2022.\n\nThat kind of devotion has poured forth since 2002’s Waking Hour\, which landed her on NPR’s Weekend Edition\, The Late Show with David Letterman\, and the top of Amazon’s music charts. Across four more studio albums that followed - the chamber folk of Warm Strangers\, the jazz-inflected Dreaming Through the Noise\, the indie epic Inland Territory\, the bright electro-pop in Aims - Vienna has paid homage to her genre-bending heroes like Paul Simon and Tori Amos\, while carving a path all her own. Together with her captivating live performances and thoughtful online presence\, her work has built a loyal following across generations and continents. \n\nVienna’s new mini-EP We’ve Got You reflects the complexity of her life over the past decade: climate change work\, community building\, parenthood. Two songs\, each titled “We’ve Got You\,” act like fraternal twins: one an indie-pop tribute to inspiring leaders\, the other a chamber-folk paean to unsung caregivers. Played simultaneously\, they reveal a new intricate whole: a mashup by design\, and a love letter to social movements.\n\nAppropriately\, Vienna now also hosts climate action workshops on tour and online\, which participants have described as “rocket fuel” and “the perfect antidote to despair.” It’s an exciting new chapter in the ever-evolving love story between an artist and her audience.

SUMMARY:Performance:Cole Chaney
DESCRIPTION:“Cole’s music transcends boundaries\, captivating audiences across the country with his soulful voice and electrifying stage presence.” –Melodic Magazine\n\nWhen it comes to his latest album\, In the Shadow of the Mountain\, 25-year-old singer-songwriter Cole Chaney is pretty candid and blunt about who he is and what kind of music he wants to make — the result of which\, this stunning offering from an artist wise beyond his age.\n\n“I’m not concerned with being labeled as ‘country\,’ whatever that means. And I’m kind of fed up with the scene\, it’s not what I’m into right now\,” Chaney says. Pointing to his lifelong admiration for 1990s rock as a vital influence on the sonic landscape of the album\, Chaney aimed to find a melodic balance between that raw and real rock sound and the bluegrass and folk music of his native Kentucky.\n\n“I wanted to make something that sounded like Ralph Stanley went in and got backed up by Soundgarden\,” Chaney notes. “I write what I listen to. And whatever I listen to is going to come out in my music.”\n\nFor Chaney\, even though he’s only in his mid-twenties\, his journey has been long and bountiful already. From growing up in rural Appalachia to going to welding school\, only to leave it behind and take a leap of faith when an opportunity to pursue music emerged. That life-changing decision led to Chaney hitting the road and finding work at The Burl\, a storied Lexington music venue. Chaney has come full circle with The Burl\, by selling out the space on multiple occasions to fervent crowds\, including the large outdoor stage.\n \nWith In the Shadow of the Mountain being the latest milestone for Chaney\, what remains is this driven musician in search of not only himself and his sound\, but also an audience just as hungry — for something new\, something different\, and yet something so familiar.

SUMMARY:Performance:Carbon Leaf
DESCRIPTION:An indie folk rock staple\n\nCarbon Leaf’s fifteenth studio album\, Time is the Playground\, is both a call to action and an embrace of the moment. Marrying nostalgic storytelling to nuanced\, folk-infused indie rock\, the Richmond\, Virginia band embroiders heartfelt melody and harmony with acoustic and electric instrumentation to create a 12-song rumination on time\, love and personal growth that’s equal parts urgent epiphany and contented exhalation.\n\nOriginally formed as a college cover band in 1992 and with over 3\,500 famously enthused live shows together\, Carbon Leaf helped to define the aughts indie rock that they ultimately outgrew and outlasted. They first earned national recognition with “The Boxer\,” a song that won the American Music Awards 2002 New Music Award and made Carbon Leaf the first unsigned band to perform before millions on the AMAs. \n\nAfter a trio of charting albums for Vanguard Records\, multiple songwriting awards and headlining shows\, Carbon Leaf opted to return to the complete creative control of their indie roots. Guitarist Terry Clark\, who co-founded the band with Privett and multi-instrumentalist Carter Gravatt\, converted his garage into the band’s Two-Car Studio\, where they’ve recorded releases for their own Constant Ivy imprint ever since. Carbon Leaf’s DIY spirit even extended to re-recording their three Vanguard albums in order to regain the rights.

SUMMARY:Performance:David Nail
DESCRIPTION:“As impressive as it is felt\, Nail’s robust\, resonant tenor just might be country’s most limber and soulful this side of Ronnie Dunn.” –The Washington Post\n\nHailing from Kennett\, Missouri\, David Nail is well-respected up and down Music Row. Some might even call him a “tour de force” as his songs pull no punches in evoking the demons with which he has wrestled through much of his life. The GRAMMY-nominated multi-platinum singer/songwriter’s early releases\, I’m About To Come Alive\, The Sound Of A Million Dreams\, I’m A Fire and Fighter\, ignited his reputation as an innovator and creative risk-taker yet left Nail feeling restless. This led to the departure of the only record company home he’d ever known\, MCA Nashville\, where he’d formed friendships that endure even now. \n\nThrough dealing with his own journey of mental health and the feeling of needing to “rebel against what people expect you to be\,” Nail began making his most organic work to date\, David Nail & The Well Ravens\, with Jason Hall and Andrew Petroff. That project liberated Nail and propelled him into his next adventure. Writing solo for the next few months led to his debut solo independent EP Oh\, Mother\, a reflective piece of work. Of the title track\, Rolling Stone noted that “the song creeps in like a sunrise — quiet\, restrained cello and keys are the only underpinning for Nail’s powerful vocals at first. But then it slowly builds to something more massive and majestic.” That release was followed by Bootheel 2020 and Bootheel 2021\, projects dedicated to the singer/songwriter’s hometown in the “bootheel” of Missouri. Nail released an EP titled Best of Me in 2023 and the title track has seen heavy press support and country radio airplay. \n\n2024 brought more touring than ever\, two great single releases “If I Could Call” and “Why” featuring Aubrie Sellers. Nail plans on releasing the start of an excitingly different and elevated album project this year leaving behind any self-imposed restrictions. In Nail’s own words\, “My philosophy has always been\, I just hope to have a good enough year that I can have a next year while staying as true to myself as I possibly can.”

SUMMARY:Performance:Seth Walker
DESCRIPTION:“Walker's sweet tenor carries an edge of pain\, as well as affection for blue notes.” - NPR Music\n\nAmong the most prolific artists on the Americana scene today\, Seth Walker is a multi-dimensional talent who combines a gift for melody and lyric alongside a rich\, Gospel-drenched\, Southern-inflected voice with a true blue knack for getting around on the guitar. With his 12th studio album Why The Worry\, Walker further builds upon this reputation. \n\nSet straight by the title’s mantra\, Why The Worry finds the veteran singer-songwriter letting go of the worry about perception\, the worry of over-preparation\, and the worry that seeps in constantly from the news and noise of everyday life. Taking a page from Willie Nelson\, Walker embraced the country music legend's sage wisdom\, “I’ve never seen worry accomplish anything\, so I decided not to do it.” Indeed\, the album was just about finished when Hurricane Helene hit Walker where he lives in the mountains around Asheville\, and as a result\, the record almost didn’t see light. As catastrophe took shape\, the album’s importance wavered in his mind until the central theme came back into view. The worry wouldn’t undo any damage\, and there was still service in song. \n\nGrowing up on a commune in rural North Carolina\, the son of classically trained musicians\, Walker played cello long before discovering the guitar in his 20s. When his introduction to the blues came via his Uncle Landon Walker\, who was both a musician and disc jockey\, his fate was forever sealed. Instantaneously\, Seth was looking to artists like T-Bone Walker\, Snooks Eaglin\, and B.B. King as a wellspring of endless inspiration. The rest is history. He's released twelve albums\, broken into the Top 20 of the Americana Radio Charts\, reached No. 2 on the Billboard Blues Album Chart and received praise from NPR\, American Songwriter\, No Depression and Relix\, among others. \n\nAlongside his extensive songwriting and recording pursuits\, Walker is consistently touring and performing at venues and festivals around the world. Along with headline shows\, he's been invited to open for The Mavericks\, Marc Broussard\, The Wood Brothers\, Raul Malo\, Paul Thorn and Ruthie Foster\, among others. \n\nPrior to relocating to Asheville in 2020\, Walker did stints residing in Austin\, New Orleans and Nashville. He’s used those experiences wisely\, soaking up the sounds and absorbing the musical lineage of these varied places. With a bluesman’s respect for roots and tradition\, coupled with an appreciation for—and successful melding of—contemporary songwriting\, Walker sublimely incorporates a range of styles with warmth and grace. Perhaps Country Standard Time said it best: “If you subscribe to the Big Tent theory of Americana\, then Seth Walker—with his blend of blues\, gospel\, pop\, R&B\, rock\, and a dash country—just might be your poster boy.”

SUMMARY:Performance:Madi Diaz
DESCRIPTION:w/sg Clover County\n\nNew Music!\n\nMadi Diaz is an artist who cuts to the emotional core of her own experiences with startling precision. Her last two albums\, 2021’s History of a Feeling and 2024’s two-time Grammy-nominated Weird Faith\, set off a breakthrough for the professional songwriter. These records won over critics\, audiences\, and other collaborators with well-crafted songs and a compelling arc: first there’s the difficult breakup\, then a mourning period and slowly\, a sense of reinvention\; when love comes around again\, Weird Faith seemed to say\, it’s worth fighting through the fear and uncertainty. Fatal Optimist\, the Nashville singer-songwriter’s forthcoming LP\, could be considered the final chapter in this heartache trilogy\, and also its rawest entry. This time Diaz is asking audiences to lean closer in to hear what she has to say.\n\nIn Diaz’s words\, “Fatal Optimism is the innate hope for something magical. It’s the weird faith that kicks in while knowing that there is just plain risk that comes with wanting someone or something. It’s when you have no control over the outcome\, but still choose to experience every moment that happens\, and put your whole heart in it.”

SUMMARY:Performance:Fruit Bats (Solo)
DESCRIPTION:New solo music from Eric D. Johnson\n\nBaby Man\, the new album by Fruit Bats\, is like nothing else in Grammy-nominated songwriter Eric D. Johnson’s catalog. Little in the arc of his career—including Fruit Bats’ evolution from home recording project to rollicking roadshow\, his solo output\, and his work with Bonny Light Horseman—points the way to this album\, in which his only accompaniment\, aside from the occasional blush of synthesizer\, is a guitar\, banjo\, or piano. Save for producer Thom Monahan\, reuniting with Johnson for the first time since Fruit Bats’ 2019 breakthrough Gold Past Life\, it’s just Johnson in the room\, meaning that when the turntable’s needle meets Baby Man’s groove\, it’s just him and the listener\, mutually in for a reckoning.

SUMMARY:Performance:Both Sides Now: The Music and Lives of Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen
DESCRIPTION:“Two singer-songwriters sit on the edge of a cliff…”\n\nWith these words\, we are drawn into the world of Both Sides Now - a theatrical concert that explores the music and lives of long-time friends and one-time lovers\, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen. Created by\, and starring Robbie Schaefer and Danielle Wertz\, the cabaret-style performance traverses decades alongside songs such as A Case of You\, Hallelujah\, Big Yellow Taxi\, Suzanne\, and many more. Both Sides Now is at once a piece of the 60’s and 70’s\, and of right now -- offering us a story about the messiness of being human\, of lives persistently lived at the edge of growth\, and of finding the courage to turn toward one another\, again and again.\n\nRobbie Schaefer:\nRobbie is a rabbi\, singer-songwriter and theatre/film artist. The guitarist and songwriter for the indie folk band Eddie From Ohio has several solo releases as well\, including the 2023 single Under the Sun.\n\nHe is currently at work on a new musical\, The Blue Poppy\, an Irish-Jewish ghost story written in collaboration with Scottish playwright Grace Barnes\, and Songs From The Wilderness\, a new album of Jewish musical midrash (interpretation)\, due for release in early 2026. \n\nDanielle Wertz:\nDanielle is a storyteller\, collaborator\, jazz musician\, composer and arranger. After being named a 2015 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Vocals Competition semi-finalist\, Danielle independently released her debut album\, Intertwined\, which ranked #4 on Capital Bop's list of \"Best DC Jazz Albums of 2017.\" That same year she placed 2nd in the Ella Fitzgerald Jazz Vocal Competition and 3rd in the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Vocal Competition.\n\nIn 2023 Danielle released her sophomore album\, Other Side. With this project she made a quantum leap as a composer and conceptualist. The album pairs her original compositions with carefully crafted arrangements of standards from the Great American Songbook. Jazziz called the album “expressive and polished” and Jazz Weekly noticed a “Joni Mitchell’d tenderness to her material.”

SUMMARY:Performance:Rachael & Vilray
DESCRIPTION:“tunes that echo the feel of standards\, without dipping into a single musical or lyrical cliché.” —DownBeat Magazine\n\nSince their formation in 2015\, Brooklyn-based duo Rachael & Vilray have achieved a certain timeless quality with their singular take on traditional pop. Though rooted in the language of an earlier age\, their songs transcend nostalgia with wit and a flair for the theatrical. On their third album West of Broadway\, vocalist Rachael Price (also of Lake Street Dive) and guitarist/singer/songwriter Vilray evolve their music’s previous dreaminess to achieve a refreshing angularity built on left-of-center instrumentation (e.g.\, vibraphone and alto saxophone coasting above the moody strains of baritone sax and trombone). Produced by Dan Knobler (Allison Russell\, Bahamas)\, West of Broadway unfolds in a series of sharply drawn vignettes inspired by a recent fascination with classic musicals—bringing their luminous vocals to offbeat tales of love and heartache along city streets.\n\nRecorded at the legendary Sear Sound in Manhattan\, West of Broadway took shape with the help of renowned musicians like saxophonist Steve Wilson (a former member of Chick Corea’s Origin sextet) and drummer John Riley (Miles Davis\, Dizzy Gillespie). Over the course of 10 lush and effervescent tracks\, the album delivers standouts like “Love Comes Around” (a joyously romantic piece that set the direction for the LP’s West Coast jazz-inspired aesthetic)\, “My Key to Gramercy Park” (a fantastically salty number narrated by a well-to-do character who lives in lonely suspicion of all those who covet their key to the notoriously exclusive private park)\, and “Off Broadway” (on which golden-voiced comedian Stephen Colbert joins in for what the duo dubs an “oddly grumpy anti-Broadway screed”). Thanks in large part to the colorful detail and extravagant personality of Rachael & Vilray’s storytelling\, West of Broadway ultimately immerses the audience in an exquisitely out-of-time vision of their beloved New York City.

DESCRIPTION:“When it comes to crafting a song\, Ms. Werner’s only peers are Jimmy Webb and Paul Simon.” –No Depression\n\nOver the course of her twenty five year career\, Susan Werner has earned a reputation as “one of the most innovative songwriters working today” (Chicago Tribune). With formidable chops on guitar (she began playing at age 5) and piano (she was a guest on Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz)\, along with a graduate degree in voice performance\, her shows are a one-woman master class in musicianship. \n\nAlthough best known as an acoustic songwriter that came up through coffeehouses and folk festivals\, the Chicago-based artist has written songs in the style of Gershwin and Cole Porter (I Can’t Be New\, 2004)\, gospel music (The Gospel Truth\, 2007)\, traditional Cuban “son” (An American In Havana\, 2016)\, and New Orleans junk piano (NOLA\, 2019). In 2014 she composed the music and lyrics to the musical theater score Bull Durham\, The Musical (MGM). Her songs have been recorded by Tom Jones\, Michael Feinstein\, and Shemekia Copeland\, and her latest recording of originals\, The Birds of Florida\, took flight in 2022.

And then layered on top of all of this is the assimilation I felt being a transracially adopted refugee. My music in a nutshell is a culmination of these experiences blended with the empathy I feel for the experiences with others. The mission of my music is to heal with others - with every nation and tongue\, in due time.\"\n\nMon Rovîa is partnering with PLUS1 for his upcoming tour. $1.00 per ticket is to be added on top of every ticket sold\, with the proceeds going to charity. Olivia and Claire with PLUS1 will be reaching out directly to your box office to coordinate when I send out formal confirmation letters\, but please include the following somewhere on your ticketing page: Mon Rovîa has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 per ticket goes to supporting Hurricane Helene relief in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of TN. Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to building and improving homes for families in need. As a local affiliate\, Habitat for Humanity of Tennessee is actively responding to the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. While immediate emergency response is ongoing\, Habitat for Humanity's primary role will be in the long-term recovery of disaster-stricken communities.

SUMMARY:Performance:Bob Schneider & Rhett Miller
DESCRIPTION:Austin\, Texas-based singer-songwriter and former frontman of The Ugly Americans and The Scabs\, Bob Schneider is one of the most-celebrated musicians in the live music capital. Combining diverse styles\, Schneider's music spans genres\, blending elements of folk\, rock\, rap\, funk\, bluegrass\, reggae and country with the more traditional singer/songwriter aesthetic. In short\, FRUNK. Schneider draws inspiration from the '70s with a modern twist. His lyrics\, both playful and powerful\, tackle tough subjects about alienation\, addiction\, and lost romance.\n\nSchneider has won more than 59 Austin Music Awards including Best Album\, Best Songwriter\, Best Musician\, and Best Male Vocals making him the most decorated artist in Austin music history. He has released more than a dozen albums (with a new one on the way). He has also written over 1\,000 songs\, is a published author and an avid painter and collage artist. He does all this while playing over a hundred shows a year and he doesn't plan on slowing down anytime soon.\n\nTexas native Rhett Miller is perhaps best known as the frontman of the Dallas-based alt-country band the Old 97's\, although he has also pursued a critically acclaimed solo career. Strictly speaking\, Miller launched his own career before the Old 97's were formed. He recorded his first solo album\, a series of acoustic folk songs entitled Mythologies\, in 1989. Future Old 97's bassist (and a solid songwriter in his own right) Murry Hammond produced the album\, and their partnership later blossomed into a full-fledged band. \n\nIn 2018 Miller released his seventh solo record\, The Messenger\, on ATO records.\n\nIn addition to his songwriting\, Miller has also written short stories\, essays\, and articles that have appeared in Rolling Stone\, Salon\, The Atlantic\, and McSweeney’s.

SUMMARY:Performance:Adam Ezra Group
DESCRIPTION:Spontaneous roots-based music that makes a connection\n\nWelcome to Adam Ezra Group\, who\, along with nonprofit organization RallySound\, host a free festival every summer that raised $143\,000 for homeless veterans in 2023. During the pandemic\, Adam live-streamed for 500 nights in a row. The group co-produced an album with 163 fans\, and Adam takes a month out of each year to visit the living rooms of his fans around the country.\n\nIf you haven’t connected with Adam Ezra Group yet\, these are just a few examples to help understand how this underground\, Americana songwriter and his bandmates seem to have popped out of nowhere\, establishing a connection with their fans unlike any other\, and are suddenly selling out theaters throughout the Northeast. \nAdam Ezra will joke with you that while the “nowhere” part might be accurate\, nothing has ever just “popped” for this folk musician\, activist. Without resources\, connections\, or any kind of clue how the music world works\, Ezra began playing shows over 20 years ago. He played bars\, bookstores\, fields\, and parking lots\, often raising money for causes he cared about\; a practice that grew into his nonprofit organization RallySound. \n\nSo how did this band operating so far outside the traditional music world come to win New England Music Award’s “Americana Act of the Year” in 2023? What could have happened to inspire John Oates to call Adam and invite him to begin a songwriting friendship that would lead to John producing their upcoming release and co-write\, “Hold Each Other Now”? What happened to catch the attention of The Wallflowers\, who recently invited AEG to join them on their spring tour\, or SPIN Magazine who recently proclaimed\, “This Independent Underground Folk Band Is Blowing Up Without Selling Out”? \n\nIf you ask Adam\, he’ll tell you: “One person at a time\, over many years and thousands of shows\, decided to turn their heads to listen… It’s no fairytale\, but it sure makes me proud and humbled when I look out from the stage to watch theaters full of people singing along to our music.”\n\nThese days you’ll find Adam and his bandmates\, Corinna Smith (Fiddle)\, Poche Ponce (Bass)\, and Alex Martin (Percussion)\, constantly out on the road. If you look at their tour schedule now\, you can buy tickets to see them at festivals\, rock venues\, and theaters around the country\, but you will also see their tour continuously peppered with activism and grassroots events\; a testament to an artist who will never forget where he came from\, and whose mission is about much more than music.

SUMMARY:Performance:An Intimate Evening with Shovels & Rope
DESCRIPTION:New Music!\n\nShovels & Rope is the Charleston\, South Carolina–based duo of Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent. They perform as an energetic two-piece band\, stirring up a righteous racket with two old guitars\, a handful of harmonicas\, the occasional keyboard\, and a junkyard drum kit harvested from an actual garbage heap and adorned with tambourines\, flowers and kitchen rags. But the songs are the deadliest arrows in this duo’s quiver. Since 2010\, Shovels & Rope has been traveling the highways and back roads of North America\, logging hundreds of shows and performing for crowds large and small. If you enjoy the tough new strain of Southern songwriting exemplified by Justin Townes Earle\, Jason Isbell\, the Felice Brothers\, Hayes Carll\, and Butch Walker\, Shovels & Rope are not to be missed. \n\nShovels & Rope come to The Ark with their latest album\, Something is Working Up Above My Head.

SUMMARY:Performance:Great Lake Swimmers
DESCRIPTION:“A stunning variety of tones and textures… nothing less than both cerebral and sublime” –American Songwriter\n\nFeaturing a blend of acoustic instruments\, rural soundscapes\, and wistful vocals\, Great Lake Swimmers are a critically acclaimed indie-folk group led by Tony Dekker. Based in Southern Ontario\, the group emerged in the early 2000s with a succession of heavily atmospheric albums recorded in old silos and rural country churches. The music developed in that pastoral warmth\, performed and recorded in acoustically resonant and historical locales with a revolving cast of personnel. They are renowned for homespun folk and lush\, intimate Americana in their live shows.\n\nTheir newest album\, Caught Light\, out Oct 10\, 2025\, is their most immediate and instinctive album to date. Recorded in just five days in Ontario’s Ganaraska Forest with producer Darcy Yates (Bahamas) and engineer Jimmy Bowskill (Blue Rodeo)\, it draws warmth from early ’70s folk-pop while embracing a new spontaneity and directness in Dekker’s songwriting.\n\nGreat Lake Swimmers have been shortlisted for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize and nominated twice for Canada’s Juno Awards\, with the CBC calling them “a national treasure.”

SUMMARY:Performance:Brett Dennen
DESCRIPTION:New music!\n\nAcross his career\, Brett Dennen has established himself as the kind of singer-songwriter who finds inspiration by digging into the nooks and crannies of the human condition—exploring pain\, joy\, sadness\, and all points in between. If It Takes Forever (Mick Music)\, the California native’s eighth solo album and first full-length since 2021’s See the World\, is no exception. The warm\, immersive collection boasts deeply felt sentiments\, underpinned by rich acoustic guitars and Dennen’s earnest vocals\, in the vein of dusky Americana (“Golden State of Mind”)\, harmonica-driven blues (the Tom Petty-esque “Careful What You Wish For”)\, rootsy indie (“Don’t Go Talking”)\, and meditative folk-rock (highlight “Time To Wake Up”).\n\nSince debuting in 2004 with a self-titled album\, Dennen has amassed a loyal fanbase thanks to a steady touring schedule\, including alongside artists like John Mayer\, Jason Mraz and G Love and Special Sauce\, as well as multiple song placements in the TV show Parenthood. Another tune\, \"Comeback Kid (That's My Dog)\,\" became the theme song for the TV adaptation About A Boy. Along the way\, Dennen has also had multiple top 10 hits on the AAA radio charts\, with the keening title track of See the World\, an encouraging song about growing up and forging your own path in life\, landing at No. 4 in 2021. \n\nWith If It Takes Forever\, Dennen plans to hit the road once again\, but he possesses additional perspective on—and gratitude for—the solace provided by art and music. “To really boil it down\, this is life\,” he says. “Life is full of things that get complicated and make you busy\, and are really hard to deal with. But if you write songs about it\, and put it into art\, then it makes it a lot more relevant and meaningful and worthy of celebration.”

SUMMARY:Performance:The Verve Pipe
DESCRIPTION:Pop hooks\, alt-rock guitars\, and sharp songwriting\n\nWith a reputation for spectacular live performances\, the genesis of multi-platinum artist The Verve Pipe can be traced back to the early 90s when the principal members of two rival Michigan bands joined forces. After releasing two independent albums\, I’ve Suffered A Head Injury and Pop Smear\, the group quickly garnered a regional following for its textured rock songs distinguished by innovative arrangements\, soul-searching lyrics and layered vocals.\n\nThe success of both albums attracted the attention of RCA Records\, which released their platinum major label debut Villains in 1996. The album featured the radio hit ‘Photograph’ and the #1 single ‘The Freshmen\,’ one of the most successful multi-format tracks of 1997 and winner of an ASCAP Pop Award. Their follow-up release\, the critically acclaimed self-titled LP The Verve Pipe\, featured ‘Hero\,’ a Top 15 hit at Modern Rock radio.\n\nIn 2001\, RCA released Underneath\, which produced the singles ‘Happiness Is’ and ‘Never Let You Down\,’ one of the most played songs for Adult Top 40 and Modern A/C radio that year. The album also included ‘Colorful\,’ the emotive ballad featured in the film and soundtrack Rock Star\, starring Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston and also co-starring lead singer Brian Vander Ark in his first major film role.\n\nIn addition to their success on radio\, TV and film\, sold-out concert dates throughout the U.S.\, Canada\, Europe and Australia\, features in Spin and Rolling Stone and videos on MTV and VH1\, the band have made numerous television appearances\, including ‘The Tonight Show With Jay Leno’ and ‘Late Night With David Letterman.’\nAfter an eight year hiatus\, The Verve Pipe were approached to submit an original song for a compilation album of children’s music. That session inspired A Family Album\, their critically acclaimed introduction to the world of children’s music\, as well as their follow up release\, Are We There Yet? Both albums contain music intended for the entire family\, with fun and inventive lyrics set to the memorable melodies the band is known for.\n\nIn 2014\, The Verve Pipe released their first rock album in over 13 years with Overboard\, a collection of ten new songs including ‘Crash Landing’\, ‘Hit and Run\,’ and the haunting title track ‘Overboard.’ This long incubating project brought a renewed energy and focus to this self-produced album that resulted in their most inspired writing and recording to date.\n\nThe Verve Pipe continue to tour\, performing both rock and kids shows throughout the U.S.\, including special appearances at Lollapalooza\, Austin City Limits Festival\, Hangout Music Festival\, Summer Stage in Central Park\, and many more.

SUMMARY:Performance:Heywood Banks
DESCRIPTION:Musician\, poet\, comedian\, icon\n\nHeywood Banks is simply one of a kind\, almost impossible to describe\, with a style his very own. Equal parts genius and buffoon\, this songwriter-comic-singer-poet-musician has become a cult hero and a pop icon\, with a show that appeals to college students\, stoners\, businessmen\, yuppies\, rednecks\, punks\, kids or your grandmother. Heywood intersperses his humorous observations of life with twisted\, inventive\, bizarre songs\, sung and played in a variety of styles\, from folk\, to country to rock to pop\, and way beyond. You have to be pretty sharp to get Heywood at his deepest level (he demands a high level of pop culture literacy)\, but you can also enjoy him just for his vocal style impersonations\, expert musicianship and just plain silliness. Heywood has appeared on A&E’s Evening at the Improv\, MTV’s 1/2 Hour Comedy Hour\, CNN’s Hollywood Minute\, Caroline’s Comedy Hour\, Entertainment Tonight\, Showtime Comedy Club Network\, and the Dr. Demento Show\,” and is a frequent guest on the national Bob and Tom radio show.

SUMMARY:Performance:Garnet Rogers
DESCRIPTION:\"A brilliant songwriter. One of the major talents of our time.\" –Boston Globe\n\nIn a darkened bedroom\, lit only by the amber glow from an old floor model radio\, two young brothers aged 6 and 12 lay in their beds\, listening to the country music broadcasts from the Grand Ol’ Opry\, and practiced their harmonies. Two years later\, the youngest one was playing the definitive 8-year-old’s version of “Desolation Row” on his ukulele. He soon abandoned that instrument to teach himself the flute\, violin and guitar.\n\nWithin ten years\, and barely out of high school\, Garnet Rogers was on the road as a full-time working musician with his older brother Stan. Together they formed what has come to be accepted as one of the most influential acts in North American folk music.\n\nSince then\, Garnet Rogers has established himself as ‘One of the major talents of our time”. Hailed by the Boston Globe as a “charismatic performer and singer”\, Garnet is a man with a powerful physical presence – close to six and a half feet tall – with a voice to match. With his “smooth\, dark baritone” (Washington Post) his incredible range\, and thoughtful\, dramatic phrasing\, Garnet is widely considered by fans and critics alike to be one of the finest singers anywhere. His music\, like the man himself\, is literate\, passionate\, highly sensitive\, and deeply purposeful. Cinematic in detail\, his songs “give expression to the unspoken vocabulary of the heart” (Kitchener Waterloo Record). An optimist at heart\, Garnet sings extraordinary songs about people who are not obvious heroes and of the small victories of the everyday. As memorable as his songs\, his over-the-top humour and lightning-quick wit moves his audience from tears to laughter and back again.

SUMMARY:Performance:Eliza McLamb
DESCRIPTION:Good Story Tour\n\nIt appears to be a trophy at first. Look closer\, and you’ll see the cover of Good Story features Eliza McLamb holding a makeshift award\, hot-glued together from scraps she and her mother salvaged. It is\, of course\, silver — a self-deprecating wink introducing the timbre of McLamb’s sophomore album. These last few years\, McLamb’s been parsing her upbringing\, the songs she wrote about it\, and the whole endeavor of the stories we tell about ourselves. “If you get really good at telling the story of who you are\, you become the story you told instead of the ever-dynamic\, ever-changing person you have to be\,” McLamb says. “I did really well telling the story of who I am\, but I began asking: What’s the point of it?” \n\nAt only 23\, McLamb has already lived multiple lives. In her late teens\, McLamb found success via co-hosting the podcast Binchtopia and sharing songs on TikTok. She soon pulled back from the platform\, feeling it didn’t represent her actual ethos as a songwriter. Instead\, she signed to Royal Mountain and released her 2024 debut Going Through It\, a document of a complex\, traumatic childhood that led to searching phases — dropping out of college during the pandemic in favor of working on Midwest farms\, eventually leaving her North Carolina hometown behind for Los Angeles. It all gave her plenty of stories to tell on Going Through It. And now on Good Story\, she wonders how that process affected her. Yet the homemade trophy of Good Story’s cover is far from a jocular consolation prize alone. It’s a symbol of the layered\, accomplished writing McLamb arrived at as she interrogated everything she thought she was about as an artist.
