What he witnessed and captured in a series of gripping photographs is *tikkun olam*, a central concept in Judaism that denotes activities that repair and improve the world we live in. The exhibit shifts the lens away from the horror the refugees have endured to focus instead on human goodness and how it can overcome lingering evil.\r\n\r\nIn his 45-year career, freelance photographer Chuck Fishman has focused on social and political issues with a strong humanistic concern. His work on Jewish life in Poland, begun in 1975, continues to the present day. Fishman\u2019s work has been extensively published, exhibited, and collected worldwide, and has earned him prestigious World Press Photo Foundation medals four times. His photographs have appeared on the covers of *Time*, *Life*, *Fortune*, *Newsweek*, *The London Sunday Times*, *The Economist*, and numerous others. The proposed iteration is a natural modification of the classical Extragradient algorithm in which it finds the solution of the sum of two monotone operators by evaluating the smooth operator twice per iteration. One of the main advantages of the proposed scheme is to avoid evaluating an extra-gradient step per iteration, this modification is suggested when the composite objective function is a sum of three convex functions, one of them is nonsmooth. The convergence of the generated sequence is established by forcing Fejer monotonicity. Moreover, convergence and complexity analyses for the functional value sequence are derived for the two proposed algorithms, called the Half-Extragradient method and its accelerated version. We provide a sublinear complexity of O(1\/k) for the Half-Extragradient and O(1\/k2) for its associate accelerated version. Rather than imagining it as a singular, coherent object, this exhibit seeks to introduce the diversity, difference, and complexity inherent in feminist activism in Japan. As in other cultural contexts, \u201cfeminism\u201d in Japan can invoke sharply different associations, from office workers trying to reshape taken-for-granted structures of power and authority, to mothers advocating for safer school lunches after the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disasters, and queer couples seeking legal recognition for the families they have created. Mainstream feminist activism in Japan has focused on advocating for change in families, workplaces, schools, political institutions, and laws, among many other contexts. Many \u00ad\u2013 but certainly not all \u2013 feminist activists in Japan are also responding to the lasting legacies of Japanese colonial projects, working toward recognition, repair, and meaningful reparations for racial and gender-based violence that continue to impact communities disproportionately.\r\n\r\nThis exhibit features original portraits of feminists who have shaped the landscape of women's and gender rights in Japan and beyond. Created by nine contemporary artists in Japan and the United States, the portraits and accompanying texts challenge simplistic understandings of \"feminism\" while also drawing attention to a diversity of experiences, needs, and activism within Japan. This exhibit also spotlights the history of Japanese studies at the University of Michigan in conjunction with the Center for Japanese Studies' 75th anniversary celebration. \r\n\r\n\u201cPortraits of Feminism in Japan\u201d is open for viewing M-F 9am-4pm or by appointment.
