However, limitations of survey measures of media consumption have left such doubts difficult to assess. We report findings from four novel data sources which each link behavioral measures of television consumption to political administrative and survey data. First, approximately 1 in 7 Americans consume over 8 hours\/month of partisan television, outnumbering the US Black population. Second, consistent with selective exposure, about two-thirds of partisan media viewers are aligned partisans; however, partisan media viewers have fairly similar attitudes to partisans generally, suggesting partisan media\u2019s audience is not likely to be less persuadable than partisans generally. Finally, few partisan media consumers consume cross-cutting television channels, consistent with partisan echo chambers. Concerns about partisan media\u2019s potential to further polarize Americans cannot be easily dismissed.\r\n\r\nJoshua Kalla is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Yale University with a secondary appointment in Statistics and Data Science. We revisit this puzzle, focusing on the role of dynamic returns to effort among top earners. We start by developing a simple theoretical model of earnings responses to taxes in the presence of dynamic returns. In this model, the returns to effort are delayed and centered around discrete job switches such as promotions within firms or movements between firms. Short-run micro elasticities are attenuated relative to the true long-run macro elasticity. We proceed by providing two main empirical analyses using rich administrative data from Denmark. The first part presents descriptive evidence on earnings and hours-worked patterns over the lifecycle that confirm the predictions of the theoretical model. The second part presents quasi-experimental evidence on earnings responses to taxes using discrete job switches. The empirical strategy is informed by the theoretical model, according to which job switches can be used to (partially) identify the macro elasticity of labor supply. The evidence shows that, at the top of the distribution, macro elasticities are much larger than micro elasticities due to dynamic compensation effects. Two areas of interest in our HEDM research are the synthesis of high-energy melt-castable explosives to replace TNT and the synthesis of high-energy propellant plasticizers to replace inert ingredients. Meaningful properties of melt-castable explosives include a melting point range of 70-120 \u00c2\u00b0C, a low vapor pressure, a significant difference between the melting temperature and the decomposition temperature, high density, low sensitivity, an affordable synthesis, and a detonation velocity and detonation pressure that significantly outperforms 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT).\r\nA plasticizer enhances fluidity or plasticity when added to a rocket or gun propellant formulation. Energetic plasticizers are used to improve physical properties, to act as a fuel, and to improve the overall energy yield of a formulation. In designing an optimal plasticizer, understanding how chemical functional groups affect the melting point, freezing point, and decomposition temperature candidate materials becomes imperative. A successful energetic plasticizer must possess a good density, reasonable sensitivity, low chemical reactivity, and high thermal stability as one approaches oxygen-balanced materials.\r\nPresented will be the synthesis of high-energy melt-castable and propellant plasticizer materials based on strained ring nitroazetidine polynitric ester and cyclobutane polynitric ester materials.
