He is a frequent media commentator on modern American history, politics, civil rights, and urban policy.\r\n\r\nAngela D. Dillard is Richard A. Meisler Collegiate Professor of Afroamerican and African Studies, History, and in the Residential College at the University of Michigan. Her publications include Faith in the City: Preaching Radical Social Change in Detroit (2007) and A Different Shade of Freedom: The Making of Civil Rights Conservatism in America (forthcoming). In addition to serving as chair of the History Department she is also co-PI on the Michigan-Mellon Egalitarian Metropolis project.\r\n\r\nMatthew D. Lassiter is Arthur F. Thurnau Professor of History and of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Michigan.
