The University Choir\u2019s portion of the concert features David Lang\u2019s the little match girl passion which uses a powerful text by the composer based on the children\u2019s story The Little Match Girl by Han Christian Andersen and influenced by Picander\u2019s text of Bach\u2019s St. Matthew Passion. Lang was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 2008 for this powerful work for soloists, choir, and small percussion that juxtaposes both suffering and hope.
