The twenty-three photographs in the exhibition, drawn from UMMA\u2019s collections, show the artist\u2019s ability to synthesize a personal\u2014even nationalistic\u2014style that merged the motifs of Mexican religious and indigenous works and plant forms (such as agave leaves) with a Modernist approach to image making. Wallpaper, with its ability to mask, transform, or animate a space, is also a prominent element in her work. LIKE II inverts this ambition, finding the reality hidden within pure abstraction. Because the work evolves based on whatever content is available online at any given moment, the artist relinquishes a certain degree of creative control.
